Swimming Returns to Action in Diamond City

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley swimming teams competed for the first time in 2026 on Saturday as the Dutchmen headed north to swim against Wilkes University and the University of Scranton at the Wilkes-Barre Catholic Youth Center in Wilkes-Barre.
 
LVC finished third in the tri-meet against the Colonels and Royals, but swam fast times in the return to the pool. The meet was LVC's first this year in a 25-yard pool after swimming in 25-meter pools during all of their meets during the fall semester.
 
Inside the Results
  • Owen Fastrich swam a time of 11:14.92 in the 1000-yard freestyle to finish third. The sophomore then swam a time of 2:20.46 in the 200-yard IM.
  • Maya Sussman was LVC's top finisher in the women's 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:26.95. She was also the top Dutchman in the 100-yard freestyle at 1:07.64. Ryan Kuffa swam a time of 1:55.56 in the men's 200-yard freestyle.
  • Jana Shoffner led the Dutchmen in the women's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 29.41 seconds. Roman Schelhorn was the first Dutchman in the men's heats with a time of 24.54 seconds. Ryan Moreno finished right behind him in 25.85 seconds.
  • Noryan Mitchell swam a time of 2:34.66 in the women's 200-yard IM. Mitchell then swam a time of 1:14.78 in the women's 100-yard backstroke. Natalie Bourne touched the wall right after her with a time of 1:15.16.
  • Colbey Brown swam a time of 1:12.20 in the 100-yard butterfly.
  • Schelhorn had a time of 57.35 seconds in the men's 100-yard freestyle while Moreno was again right behind him in 58.69 seconds.
  • Edward McClain was the top Dutchmen finisher in the men's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:21.81.
  • Karly Kile swam 7:01.72 in the 500-yard freestyle while Kuffa touched the wall in 5:33.32.
  • Lily McNutt finished in 1:23.26 in the women's 100-yard breaststroke, while Nora Cuthie finished in 1:25.27. Schelhorn had a time of 1:13.82 in the men's race.
Up Next
The Dutchmen will be back in action next Saturday, Jan. 17, with a Middle Atlantic Conference tri-meet against Hood College and York College of Pennsylvania at the Huntsinger Aquatics Center on the campus of Hood in Frederick, Maryland. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
