Miller and Lasky Score Goals for Dutchmen Women’s Soccer at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md. ­­– Abrielle Miller, Jordan Lasky, and Jayme Beninda each recorded two points for the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team, as the program dropped a hard-fought 4-2 game to Stevenson University on Saturday, Sept. 20. 

The Flying Dutchmen (6-1-0) took the first shot of the afternoon, as Beninda put an attempt on goal that was saved at the 1:49 mark. The Mustangs (3-1-3) then opened the scoring 5:19 into the game, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Isabella Pecunes. Lebanon Valley followed this by generating some offensive opportunities, as Lasky took a shot that went to the left of the net at the 8:16 mark before sending the ball above the net at the 10:48 mark. Miller also contributed to LVC's offensive efforts, sending a shot above the net at the 12:57 mark.

Stevenson took shots on goal at the 13:52 and 15:25 marks, and both attempts resulted in saves for LVC by goalkeeper Camryn Porter. The Mustangs then added a tally 15:33 into the first half, taking a 2-0 advantage on a goal by Colleen Fanning. The Dutchmen also kept working to create scoring chances, as Lasky had a shot go to the left of the net at the 19:10 mark before the senior tallied another try that was saved at the 20:39 mark. Stevenson followed this by scoring again, 21:57 into the contest, going ahead 3-0 on a goal by Kamille Purcell. 

The programs proceeded to battle on the defensive end for over 11 minutes, as neither squad took a shot during this stretch. Lebanon Valley registered the next shot, as Mikhaela Sartor sent the ball over the upper-right corner of the net at the 33:19 mark. Alison Sepkovic later recorded an attempt for the Dutchmen, which went to the left of the net with just over three minutes to go in the opening stanza. The Mustangs followed this with a shot that went to the right of the net with 37 seconds remaining and took a 3-0 lead into halftime. 

Stevenson registered the first shot of the second half, and goalkeeper Addison Zielenieski came through with a save for Lebanon Valley at the 48:26 mark. The Mustangs also sent a shot over the upper-right corner of the net 49:40 into the game. This was followed by a scoring chance for LVC, as Lasky sent the ball to the left of the net at the 52:33 mark. The Dutchmen then put a point on the board 54:59 into the contest, narrowing their deficit to 3-1. Miller got the program's offense going with a header shot into the center of the net, courtesy of an assist by Beninda. Miller also took the squad's next two shots, sending a try above the net at the 56:15 mark and an attempt over the upper-right corner of the net at the 57:42 mark.

Lebanon Valley found the net again 58:52 into the game, trimming the score to 3-2. Lasky sent the ball above the leaping try of the goalkeeper and into the right corner of the net for a goal, after another assist by Beninda. Stevenson countered with a pair of shots on target, and Zielenieski posted saves for the Dutchmen at the 65:04 and 66:15 marks. The Mustangs then added another goal 73:44 into the contest, going up 4-2. 

The Flying Dutchmen continued to battle offensively during the remaining minutes, taking five more shots with two shots on goal. Miller sent a shot over the upper-right corner of the net at the 79:10 mark, before Megan Ressler put a shot on target that was saved at the 81:45 mark. Lasky then took a shot on goal for LVC, which was saved at the 84:37 mark. Beninda contributed to the squad's offensive efforts as well, sending a shot off the crossbar at the 87:30 mark. This was followed by Ressler taking the final shot of the day, sending the ball over the net with 2:06 to go. Ultimately, Stevenson went on to maintain its lead through the end of the game. 

Inside the Box Score
  • Lasky scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season, while posting game-highs with seven shots and three shots on goal.
  • Miller netted her third goal of the campaign. The junior also took five shots, including one attempt on goal. 
  • Beninda recorded a game-high and season-high two assists. 
  • Lebanon Valley outshot Stevenson 18-10. LVC also tallied six shots on goal, while the Mustangs had eight. 
  • Beninda and Ressler each tallied two shots, including one attempt on target. 
  • LVC had a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks. 
  • Zielenieski logged the first three saves of her career. 
  • Porter made two saves.

Lebanon Valley will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m., when the team will host Neumann University for its Hidden Opponent Awareness Game at Herbert Field.
