Dutchmen Track and Field Teams Earn Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Lebanon Valley Track and Field teams were honored with academic awards from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week. Both teams earned All-Academic Team honors while five Dutchmen, three men and two women, were named All-Academic Athletes.
 
In order to be named an All-Academic Team a team must have a Cumulative team GPA of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility of at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter. The Dutchmen men's team has a 3.42 team GPA while the women have a 3.479 team GPA.
 
The five Dutchmen who earned individual honors are Coyla Bartholomew, Joe Chukoskie, Michael De Falcis, Rory Lieberman, and Anna Sawicki.
 
In order to be named an All-Academic Athlete a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recently completed grading period and met one of the two athletic criteria:
  • Must have finished the season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who participated at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible.
  • Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who participated in the relay at the Indoor or Outdoor National Championships, are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.
Bartholomew is a junior Exercise Science major who finished 37th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a school-record time of 10:58.16 at the Widener Final Qualifier. This is her second consecutive year earning All-Academic honors.
 
Chukoskie is a junior Exercise Science major who finished 43rd in the 10,000 meters with a school-record time of 30:25.07 at the Danny Curran Invitational.
 
De Falcis is a senior Exercise Science major who finished 11th in the javelin with a school-record toss of 64.27 meters (210'10") at the MAC Outdoor Championships. This is his third consecutive All-Academic honor.
 
Lieberman is a sophomore Nursing major who finished 41st in the 3,000 meters with a school-record time of 8:22.93 at the Tufts Final Qualifier and 35th in the Outdoors 5,000 meters with a school-record time of 14:21.74 at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
  
Sawicki is a first-year Exercise Science major who finished 26th in the pentathlon with a school-record total of 3331 points at the MAC Indoor Championships and 25th in the heptathlon with a school-record total of 4607 points at the MAC Outdoor Championships.
