Men’s Golf Starts Strong at MAC Freedom Championship

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Golf team had the best round of golf at a conference championship in program history with a 307 to sit in second place at the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom Championship.
 
The Dutchmen had four of their five golfers card rounds in the 70s with all four in the top 20 individually heading into Sunday's final round. They recorded their best round of the year and the 15th-best round in program history. Stevens Institute of Technology has a 12-stroke lead on the Dutchmen after scoring a 295 on Saturday. LVC is second with a 307 while Arcadia University is third with a 312. Delaware Valley University and Misericordia University are tied for fourth with scores of 316. Benjamin Slicker from Stevens had the best round of the day with a two-under par 70. He leads by four strokes.
 
Inside the Results
  • Brandon Staniszewski is tied for sixth in the field of 40 with a three-over 75. He recorded nine pars and three birdies on the round. The senior birdied the par-five sixth hole, the par-four seventh hole, and the par fie 13th hole. He was one-over on the front nine with a 37 and two-over on the back nine with a 38.
  • Reagan Flynn was one stroke off Staniszewski with a 76 to sit in a tie for ninth. He recorded three birdies and eight pars with a one-over 37 on the front nine and a three-over 39 on the back. Flynn birdied the par-five third hole, the par-three eighth hole, and the par-five 15th hole.
  • Brayden Herr finished tied for 12th with a 77. He was a two-over 38 on the front nine and a three-over 39 on the back nine holes. Herr recorded 13 pars including five straight in between holes four and eight.
  • Blake Dustin carded a 79 to finish tied for 20th. He had two birdies on the back nine and recorded 10 pars. Dustin birdied the par-five 13th hole and the par-five 15th holes. He carded a four-over 40 on the front nine and a three-over 39 on the back nine.
  • Ian Stefanchik had a great start but struggled on the back nine to finish with an 83. The senior had an eagle on the par-five sixth hole and recorded eight pars for the round. Stefanchik was an even par 36 on the front nine and then carded a 47 on the back nine. He is tied for 28th heading into Sunday.

Sunday's final round will begin at 10 a.m. at the Shawnee Golf Resort with the Dutchmen having the final five tee times with Stevens and Arcadia as the teams battle for the conference championship and the automatic berth into the NCAA Championship.
