Men’s Tennis Sweeps King’s to Lock Down Second Seed

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Tennis team locked down a postseason berth and the second seed in next week's MAC Freedom Championship with a 7-0 victory at King's College on Thursday afternoon at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre.
 
The Dutchmen (10-10, 4-1 MAC Freedom) won their fourth consecutive match and won all nine matches for just the second time this year. LVC had another strong singles performance dropping a total of 10 games over the six matches. In total, the Dutchmen dropped 18 total games on a warm sunny day in Wilkes-Barre.
 
Inside the Box
  • Jake Erb and Zach Schrader moved to 3-2 in conference matches with a quick 6-0 victory at number one doubles to start things off.
  • Michael Schuetz and Ethan Luu clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at number two to improve their season record to 7-5.
  • Antonio Scaramuzzino and Vincent Thompson earned a 7-5 victory at number three doubles to stay unbeaten as a pair at 2-0.
  • Schrader evened up his singles record at 11-11 with a 6-2, 6-3 win at number one. The first-year improved to 4-1 in conference matches.
  • Erb had a double bagel with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at number two singles. He improved to 4-1 in conference play with his first double bagel of the season.
  • Schuetz won his third consecutive match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at number three. The senior also improved to 4-1 in MAC Freedom matches.
  • Colin Brusse won 6-1, 6-0 at number four for his third straight win. He is 11-7 on the season and 3-1 in conference.
  • Luu recorded his second double bagel of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number five. The sophomore is 9-6 on the year and 3-1 in conference play.
  • Jared Hostetter won his fourth consecutive match and improved to 3-1 in conference play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at number six.
  • The Dutchmen clinched both a playoff spot and the second seed in the MAC Freedom Championships for the second consecutive season. The Dutchmen will host the winner of this weekend's match between FDU-Florham and Arcadia on Tuesday at the Shankroff Tennis Center in the MAC Freedom Semifinal.

LVC will honor Schuetz as the team's lone senior on Senior Day as the Dutchmen wrap up the regular season against Misericordia University on Saturday. First serve against the Cougars is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
