ASTON, Pa. – Jake Bollinger broke had a career-high 10 points on eight goals and two assists to lead the Lebanon Valley Men's Lacrosse team to a 15-12 victory at Neumann University on Wednesday afternoon in the team's final non-conference game of the season.
The Dutchmen (5-5) improved to 4-0 on the road this year and gained some momentum going into conference play this weekend with the win. The teams traded turnovers over the first four minutes of the game with neither team able to put a shot on goal. The Knights (3-9) scored the first goal of the game to take an early lead. LVC responded right away as Bollinger scored his first goal of the game off an assist from
Sean Poole. Neuman broke the tie with six minutes to go in the opening quarter before Bollinger added his second goal of the game almost two minutes later to even things back up. The Knights retook the lead with 2:19 left in the quarter.
Trey Ralston scored to tie things up and then Poole scored off an assist by Ralston right before the end of the quarter to give the Dutchmen a 4-3 advantage.
Bollinger completed his hat trick to start the second quarter scoring in the opening minute off a pass from
Ethan Keenan. Neumann cut the deficit in half with just under 11 minutes to play.
John Lux pushed the lead back up to two with his first goal of the game less than a minute later. The Knights answered with a pair of goals in a span of one minute to even the score up at six with 7:41 to go in the half. LVC countered with a pair of goals to go back up by two. Bollinger recorded his first assist of the game as he found
Hayden Carling open for the first goal and then Bollinger scored off an assist by
Garret Harmon to make it 8-6. Neumann ended the half strong with two goals of the final two minutes to tie the score up heading into the break.
The Knights began the second half with a goal on the first possession to take the lead. Luk scored a little over two minutes later to tie the score back up before Bollinger scored off a long pass by
Sheadan Makosy. The Knights called a timeout to set up a play after gaining possession and clearing the ball. They were able to tie the score up midway through the period. LVC struck right back as Keenan found Bollinger for the final goal of the quarter less than a minute later. The Dutchmen did not allow the Knights to put a single shot on goal for the final seven minutes of the quarter.
Bollinger began the fourth by hitting the post. Lux picked up the ground ball and hit the post off the rebound. Bollinger picked up the loose ball and fired the ball into the back of the net before Neumann had a chance to react off Lux's shot. Neumann cut the lead back down to one goal on a goal with 12 minutes to play. The Dutchmen responded a couple minutes later as Bollinger picked up a ground ball on a clear attempt and passed to
Montgomery Sensenig. Sensenig then fired a shot pass the goalie to give LVC some breathing room with 9:42 to play. Bollinger added an insurance goal with 4:18 on the clock. The Knights scored a man-up goal a minute later, but LVC answered right back as Ralston scored off an assist by Carling to set the final score.
Inside the Box
- Bollinger's eight goals and 10 points were career-highs for the attacker. He was one point off the program record off 11 points and one goal off the program record nine goals in a game. Bollinger put nine of his 13 shots on goal and had three ground balls. The graduate student broke the program record in career points in the fourth quarter as he recorded his 243rd point to surpass the record of 242 by Malik Pedroso.
- Ralston added three points on two goals and an assist. The senior put all six of his shots on goal.
- Lux scored a pair of goals putting two of his six shots on goal.
- Carling and Poole had two points on a goal and an assist apiece while Keenan had two assists.
- Sensenig scored the first goal of his collegiate career while Harmon and Makosy added an assist each.
- Makosy led the defensive effort with five caused turnovers and three ground balls. Zach Wanous added three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
- The Dutchmen had a 39-35 shot advantage including 25-17 in shots on goal.

LVC will begin conference play on Saturday with a road trip up I-81 to face King's College in Wilkes-Barre. Game time is set for 1 p.m. against the Monarchs at McCarthy Stadium.
