NEWTOWN, Pa. – Lebanon Valley Women's Basketball standout
Cristina Fernandez capped off an outstanding career with one of the top awards given out by the conference office as she was named the Middle Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Senior Scholar-Athlete in a release on Friday.
Fernandez, an Early Childhood Education major, was named the MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Year and earned Third Team All-Region honors while also being named to the All-MAC Freedom First Team this season. She led the conference with 49 blocks as a guard and was 13th in the nation with a 2.24 assist/turnover ratio.
Her academic honors include College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors twice, a spot on the MAC Academic Honor Roll twice, and Dean's List honors six times.
Fernandez becomes LVC's third Senior Scholar-Athlete this year and the third Women's Basketball honoree in program history. She is the 40th overall MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete for the Dutchmen with at least one in every year since the 2008-09 academic year and three in each of the past two academic years.
