ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Lacrosse team had four different goal scorers in a 17-4 defeat to Messiah University on Wednesday evening at Arnold Field in Annville.
The Falcons jumped out to a 5-0 lead as they scored all five first quarter goals and outshot the Dutchmen 12-5 during the first 15 minutes of action. Messiah had five different goal scorers in the first period.
Trey Ralston nearly gave LVC an early lead but his shot a little over a minute into action hit the post and was picked up by a Falcon defender. The Dutchmen started the second period on an extra-man opportunity but were unable to get off a shot during the advantage.
Jake Bollinger put the Dutchmen on the board with his 18th goal of the season with 11:04 left in the half. Messiah responded with a goal two minutes later and then added three more goals over the final six minutes of the quarter to take a 9-1 halftime lead.
Messiah added to its lead in the second half scoring four times over the first half of the third quarter to push the lead to 13-1. The Dutchmen stopped the scoring streak with 6:45 to go as Bollinger found
Ethan Keenan on the left wing for a man-up goal near the end of the extra-man opportunity. The Falcons scored with 1:24 left on the clock before
Hayden Carling responded with his sixth goal of the year nearly a minute later to make it 14-3 after three. Messiah scored twice in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter. The teams battled up and down for eight scoreless minutes until
Sam Spagnuolo fought off a defender and scored his second goal of the year. The Falcons would respond with the final goal a little over a minute later to set the final score.
Inside the Box
- Bollinger led the Dutchmen with two points on one goal and an assist. He recorded his seventh multi-point game of the year.
- Keenan tallied his 15th goal on his only shot of the game. The sophomore scored his first man-up goal.
- Carling scored his sixth goal of the season on three shots. Spagnuolo scored his second career goal.
- Sheadan Makosy had three ground balls and two caused turnovers while Zach Wanous and Montgomery Sensenig picked up two ground balls each.

LVC will close out non-conference play next Wednesday with a trip to Aston where they will face Neumann University for a 4 p.m. start.
