LATROBE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Lacrosse team improved to 3-0 in road games this season with a 13-7 victory at Saint Vincent College on Saturday afternoon in Latrobe.
The Dutchmen (4-4) used a strong start, scoring the first three goals of the game, to build a lead they would never relinquish against the Bearcats (3-5). LVC put early pressure on the SVC goalie as
Trey Ralston and
Hayden Carling had shots saved in the first couple of minutes.
Ethan Keenan scored the first goal of the game with 12:25 to go in the period before
John Lux added a goal a few minutes later. Less than a minute later, Ralston made it 3-0 with his first goal of the game off a feed by
Jacob Olson. Saint Vincent scored with 5:37 left in the quarter to cut the advantage to 3-1. The Dutchmen answered right back as
Sean Poole scored off an assist by
Jake Bollinger to bring the lead back up to three.
LVC took advantage of a pair of late penalties by the Bearcats to end the first quarter with a man-up goal by Lux 24 seconds into the second quarter. Carling assisted on the second goal of the game for Lux. Poole and
Rowan Myers added goals to push the lead to 7-1 with a little under 12 minutes left in the half. The Bearcats cut the lead to five with a goal a little under a minute later. Neither team was able to score again until Ralston scored with 5:35 on the clock off another assist by Carling. Two minutes later Poole scored his third goal of the game off an assist by Ralston to give LVC a 9-2 halftime lead.
Bollinger began the second half scoring with an unassisted goal a few minutes into the third quarter. The Bearcats scored midway through the period to cut the advantage to 10-3. The Dutchmen controlled possession over the next few minutes but neither team was able to score until SVC put a shot into the back of the net with 1:40 to go in the quarter. The Dutchmen once again answered right back as Ralson pushed the lead to 11-4 after three off an assist by Keenan in the final minute.
Keenan scored on LVC's first offensive possession of the final quarter to put the Dutchmen up by eight. The Bearcats countered with a goal under a minute later before LVC added a goal by Bollinger with just under nine to play to make it 13-5. Saint Vincent scored with eight minutes left and then again with under two minutes left to set the final score.
Inside the Box
- LVC stayed unbeaten in road games this year while outshooting the Bearcats 41-37.
- Ralston and Bollinger had four points each to lead the offense. Ralson recorded his second hat trick of the season with three goals and one assist while Bollinger had two goals and two assists.
- Poole recorded his first hat trick with a career-high three goals on five shots.
- Keenan finished with three points on two goals and an assist. He has scored at least two goals five times this year.
- Lux had two goals while Carling dished out two assists. Myers scored his fifth goal of the season while Olson recorded his second assist.
- Jacob LaRue led the defensive effort with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Kellen Markley made 16 saves and picked up two ground balls.
- Sheadan Makosy picked up three ground balls and had a caused turnover.
- Mitchell Gearhart won six faceoffs.
- The Dutchmen were 25-for-30 on clear attempts.

LVC will be back on Arnold Field this Wednesday as they host Messiah University at 7 p.m. in the final home non-conference game of the season.
