LANCASTER, Pa. – Dylan Mennillo tied a game-high two RBIs for the Lebanon Valley College Baseball team, as the program dropped a hard-fought 8-5 contest to Franklin & Marshall College on Tuesday, March 18, at Penn Medicine Park.

Owen Berry and two strikeouts swinging. Lebanon Valley then opened the scoring in the top of the second, taking an early 1-0 lead over the Diplomats. Ranker came up to the plate with two outs and
Parker Tarnoci was on first after drawing a walk. Ranker got the club on the board by lining an RBI double to left-center field, which deflected off the center fielder's glove on a diving attempt, allowing Tarnoci to score all the way from first base. Franklin & Marshall countered with a run in the bottom half of the second, tying the game at 1-1 on an RBI fielder's choice to shortstop.
The Flying Dutchmen added another tally in the top of the third inning, taking a 2-1 advantage. Berry got into scoring position by driving a double to left field. The junior followed this by stealing third base, and the throw by the Diplomats' catcher got by the third baseman and went into left, plating Berry. Franklin & Marshall then evened the score at 2-2 in the bottom of the third on an RBI groundout to second base.
Lebanon Valley tacked on two more runs in the top of the fourth, going ahead 4-2. The program got runners on first and second base with one out after Tarnoci reached on an error, and
Kameron Wetzel hit a single to center field. This was followed by Mennillo lining a two-run double into the right-center field gap, knocking in Tarnoci and Wetzel. The Diplomats then scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth, taking a 5-4 lead on a bases-loaded walk, a sacrifice fly to right field, and an RBI double to right.
Landon Sexton entered the game to pitch for LVC in the bottom of the fifth inning and got out of a bases-loaded, nobody-out jam by striking out two batters swinging, and tallying a flyout to left. Franklin & Marshall followed this by crossing the plate again in the bottom of the sixth, going up 6-4 on an RBI double down the left-field line. The Diplomats also scored two in the bottom of the seventh, making it an 8-4 game on an RBI triple to center and a wild pitch.
The Dutchmen responded with a run in the top of the eighth inning, narrowing the score to 8-5. The club got runners on the corners after Wetzel hit a ball to third and reached on a fielding error before Mennillo singled. Butz then hit a ball to second base and reached on an RBI fielder's choice, plating Wetzel.
Jordy Polanco then entered the game to pitch for Lebanon Valley in the bottom of the eighth and retired the side in order, recording an unassisted groundout to first base, a groundout to shortstop, and a flyout to left field.
