ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Spencer Butz and
Devin Kreger each drove in two runs for the Lebanon Valley College Baseball team, helping lead the club to an exciting 10-8 victory over Elizabethtown College on Tuesday, March 11, at Kevin Scott Boyd Stadium. The Flying Dutchmen received contributions from several players during the win, as eight recorded RBIs, eight crossed the plate, and starting pitcher
Hunter Williams had a no-hitter through seven innings.
Williams began his outing for the Dutchmen (5-7) with an efficient bottom of the first inning. The sophomore pitcher retired the Blue Jays (7-3) in order with a strikeout swinging, a flyout to right field, and a groundout to second base.
Lebanon Valley's lineup struck first in the top of the second inning, taking a 3-0 lead over Elizabethtown. The club loaded the bases with no outs, as
Logan Brewer hit a single to left field,
Kameron Wetzel walked, and
Ryan Murphy hit a single to shortstop. LVC then plated the first run of the game with a bases-loaded walk by Kreger, scoring Brewer.
Dylan Mennillo followed this with a sacrifice fly to center field, knocking in Wetzel. Butz also hit a sacrifice fly to left field, bringing home Murphy.
The Blue Jays countered with a run in the bottom of the second, trimming their deficit to 3-1 with a sacrifice fly to right field. Williams delivered another 1-2-3 inning for the Flying Dutchmen in the bottom of the third, registering a flyout to left, a strikeout swinging, and a flyout to right.
Lebanon Valley's lineup then posted a big four-run frame in the top of the fourth inning, extending its advantage to 7-1. The program got things started with a one-out single to left field by Kreger and a single to second base by Mennillo, putting runners on first and second. Butz followed this with an RBI double down the left-field line, driving in Kreger.
Owen Berry came to the plate next and sent an RBI single to right-center field, plating Mennillo.
Jace Fetterman kept things rolling by hitting an RBI single to first base, scoring Butz. The inning was capped off with an RBI single to right-center field by
Kody Phillips, bringing in Berry.
Williams also put up a zero for the Dutchmen in the bottom half of the fourth, logging a lineout to Mennillo at second base, an unassisted groundout to Brewer at first base, and a popout to Berry at shortstop. The right-hander retired the side in order again in both the bottom of the fifth and bottom of the sixth inning, tallying a strikeout in each frame. Williams also continued his solid outing in the bottom of the seventh, holding the opposition in check with a popout to third base and two strikeouts looking.
Elizabethtown added five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, narrowing the score to 7-6 with two RBI singles, a bases-loaded walk, and a two-run single. Lebanon Valley answered right back with some key insurance runs in the top of the ninth, claiming a 10-6 lead. Phillips led off the inning with a single to right field, and pinch runner
Christian Vanelli came home to score on Brewer's RBI triple to right-center field. Wetzel followed this by hitting an RBI single up the middle, knocking in Brewer. Later in the frame, Kreger hit an RBI single to third base to plate Wetzel.
The Blue Jays responded with two runs in the bottom of the ninth, making it a 10-8 contest on a sacrifice fly to right field and an RBI single down the right-field line.
Malachi Duka then closed the door for the Dutchmen, securing the program's victory by striking out the next batter swinging for the final out.

- Kreger tied a career-high two hits and matched a career-most two RBIs, which also tied the most in the game. The sophomore also had a walk, a hit-by-pitch, and a run scored.
- Butz hit a double while tying a game-high two RBIs, marking his first two with the Dutchmen. The junior also scored a run during the victory.
- Williams earned his first win of the year, striking out a career-high six batters in seven innings while allowing just one hit and one earned run. The sophomore took a no-hitter into the eighth inning.
- Fetterman tied a game-high and season-high three hits while knocking in a run. The senior has registered a base hit in each of LVC's 12 games this season.
- Phillips also tied a game-high three hits, matching his most this season and extending his hitting streak to four games. The first-year also had an RBI.
- Brewer tied a season-high two hits with a triple and tied a season-high two runs scored, while picking up an RBI.
- Mennillo tied a season-high two hits while driving in a run and scoring a run.
- Wetzel registered a base hit, a walk, an RBI, and tied a career-high two runs scored. The sophomore extended his hitting streak to six games during the win, while also stealing a base.
- Berry tallied a hit, an RBI, and a run scored.
- Murphy picked up a base hit and crossed the plate once.
- Vanelli scored a run.
- Weir tallied a base hit.
- Duka notched his first save of the season, recording three strikeouts during 1.1 innings on the mound.
