ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Lacrosse team scored three times in the first five minutes and never trailed in a 13-11 victory over Albright College on Wednesday afternoon at Arnold Field in Annville.
The Dutchmen (1-2) won the opening faceoff and scored on the first possession as
Ethan Keenan fired a shot into the back of the net off a pass by
Jake Bollinger.
Gavin Porter gave LVC a 2-0 lead eight seconds later as he won the faceoff and raced down the field for his first goal of the year.
Trey Ralston gave the squad a 3-0 lead with just over 10 minutes to go in the period with a goal off a feed from
John Lux. The teams traded turnovers over the next four minutes until Albright scored its first goal of the game with 5:30 on the clock to make it 3-1. The Dutchmen answered with a
Ryan Hendrixson goal with just over a minute to play in the quarter. The Lions scored with 13 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 4-2 after one quarter of play.
Jake Bollinger started the scoring in the second quarter with the 150th goal of his career. Ralston then scored two straight goals to put the Dutchmen up 7-2 with 10:27 on the clock. The Lions responded with two goals in the next two minutes before Lux found the back of the net off a feed from Bollinger. The Dutchmen maintained the four-goal advantage until just over two minutes left in the quarter when Albright was able to cut the lead to 8-5 with a goal following a turnover.
The Dutchmen came out of the halftime break and scored a little over 90 seconds into the quarter as Keenan scored his second goal of the game. The Dutchmen controlled possession for the majority of the next five minutes and Ralston added to the lead with his fourth goal of the game to make it 10-5. Albright cut into the advantage with a pair of goals over the final six minutes of the quarter to cut the lead to 10-7 heading into the fourth.
Hayden Carling began the fourth quarter with a goal off an assist by
Sean Poole on the first possession. The Lions countered with a goal a few minutes later to keep it a three-goal game.
Rowan Myers scored what would wind up being the game-winning goal with a little under six minutes to play off another assist by Bollinger. The Dutchmen won the following faceoff, and Bollinger had another assist as Lux scored to put LVC up 13-8. The Lions were able to score three times over the final five minutes but that wasn't enough as LVC hung on for the victory.
Inside the Box
- Ralston led the team with four goals on seven shots. The senior recorded his first hat trick of the season and now has 95 career goals.
- Bollinger tied the program career goals record with his 150th goal. The attacker finished the game with five points as he totaled four assists.
- Lux had four points on two goals and two assists while Keenan scored twice.
- Carling, Hendrixson, Myers, and Porter had one goal apiece. Jacob Olson and Poole each recorded an assist.
- Sheadan Makosy and Collin Regina led the team with four ground balls each. Makosy also had two caused turnovers.
- Porter won nine faceoffs and picked up three ground balls.
- The Dutchmen had a 39-34 shot advantage in the game and successfully cleared 19 of 21 clear attempts.
- Kellen Markley made seven saves in goal while Regina had six.

The Dutchmen will be on the road for the first time this year on Saturday with a trip to Baltimore to face Goucher College at 1 p.m.
