LANCASTER, Pa. Kameron Wetzel knocked in three runs for the Lebanon Valley College Baseball team, as the club dropped a hard-fought 15-8 contest to Muhlenberg College in eight innings on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Penn Medicine Park. Jace Fetterman also hit his first home run of the season for the Flying Dutchmen during the ballgame.

The Mules (2-1) got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning, taking a 1-0 lead on an RBI triple to right field. The Dutchmen (1-3) answered right back in the bottom of the first, going ahead 2-1. The club started the frame by getting runners on first and second base with one out, after Owen Berry and Jace Fetterman each drew a walk. Logan Brewer then evened the score by hitting an RBI double to center field, driving in Berry. Ryan Murphy followed this with a two-out RBI single to center, plating Brewer to put LVC up by a run.

Starting pitcher Trey Dianna tossed a scoreless top of the second for Lebanon Valley and began the frame by fielding the first out himself, on the mound. Muhlenberg then hit a one-out single to left, before Dianna recorded the second out with a flyout to center. The runner on first then attempted to steal second base, and catcher Tyler Satterfield threw him out to end the inning. Dianna also blanked the opposition in the top of the third inning, retiring the side in order with a groundout to shortstop and two strikeouts swinging.

The Flying Dutchmen added a couple more runs in the bottom of the third inning, extending their lead to 4-1. The team scored its first run of the frame on a sacrifice fly to center field by Wetzel, knocking in Brewer. Satterfield then attempted to steal second base, and Justin Ranker was able to steal home on Muhlenberg's throw. The Mules followed this by plating four runs in the top of the fourth, going up 5-4 on an RBI single through the left side, an error that scored two, and an RBI single up the middle.

Blair Shaffer entered the contest to pitch for the Dutchmen in the top of the fifth inning and recorded a scoreless frame, as the southpaw got out of a bases loaded jam with a strikeout looking. Lebanon Valley crossed the plate in the bottom half of the fifth, tying things up at 5-5 on a leadoff solo home run by Fetterman. Muhlenberg then added two runs in the top of the sixth, taking a 7-5 advantage after an error and an RBI single. The Mules later hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh and scored four in the top of the eighth after two RBI singles and a two-run double, making it a 15-5 contest.

The Flying Dutchmen continued to battle as the game went into the bottom of the eighth inning, narrowing the score to 15-8.
