Harder and Timochenko Lead Men’s Basketball at King’s

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Ryan Harder had a team-high 13 points and Evin Timochenko recorded another double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds in a 84-57 defeat at King's College on Tuesday evening in Wilkes-Barre.

The Monarchs (11-11, 6-7 MAC Freedom) jumped out to a 6-0 lead at Scandlon Gymnasium in their final home game of the season. Harder got the Dutchmen (11-13, 5-8 MAC Freedom) on the board with a three pointer off an assist by Braden Bohannon. Harder got out in transition after a defensive rebound and found Bohannon open for a three to cut the led to 8-6 with 16:22 on the clock. The Monarchs responded with a pair of threes and Bohannon scored on a driving layup in between the two. Timochenko scored his first points off a feed from Bohannon before the Monarchs went on a 15-0 run over a span of 3:30 to take a 29-10 advantage with 11 minutes left in the half. Timochenko hit a layup to end the run for the Monarchs. Jack Miller hit a three to cut the lead to 31-15 before the teams went scoreless for a three-minute stretch. King's ended the drought with a three and then Timochenko knocked down the front end of two free throws. The Monarchs got the lead up to 20 before layups by Jason Penn and Timochenko made it 36-20 at the half.

Harder began the second half with a three but the Monarchs answered right back at the other end. Harder knocked down another three a couple of possessions later but once again King's countered with a 6-0 run over the next minute to go up 45-26. Timochenko scored in the paint before KC knocked down a three. The Monarchs were able to extend the lead to 29 points at 59-30 after a pair of free throws with 12:26 remaining. Evan Smith scored the next six points on three consecutive jump shots. King's hit four foul shots before Tyson Hofsass knocked down a three. Harder had a pair of jumpers for the Dutchmen but the Monarchs were able to match the points to keep a 26-point advantage. King's used a 10-0 run over a two-minute span to increase the lead to 84-48 with three minutes left. LVC fought valiantly as Karson Pavlik and Phil Unangst scored in the paint. Brendan Lonnergan hit a pair of free throws and then Pavlik knocked down another jumper. Tyler Kerlin made one of two free throws in the final minute for the final point of the game.

Inside the Box
  • Harder scored in double figures for the 21st time this season as he finished with 13 points. The senior had a trio of three-pointers and pulled down three rebounds.
  • Timochenko recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds. The senior had three offensive rebounds and shot 50 percent from the field.
  • Smith had six points while Bohannon finished with five points, two assists, and two steals.
  • Unangst pulled down five rebounds while Lonergan had four.
  • Hofsass scored five points and led the team with three assists.
Up Next
LVC will close out the season on Saturday afternoon with a Senior Day matchup against Arcadia University at Sorrentino Gymnasium. Tip-off against the Knights is scheduled for 3 p.m. with Senior Day festivities to occur prior to the game.
