Men’s Lacrosse Begins Season against Franklin & Marshall

ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Men's Lacrosse team had six different goal scorers in a 21-6 defeat to Franklin & Marshall College on a snowy Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field in the season opener for both teams.

The Diplomats used a huge first quarter scoring 11 goals in the first 15 minutes while winning nine of the 11 face-offs in the quarter. F&M also took advantage of three LVC penalties with two extra man goals. John Lux took the first shot of the season for the Dutchmen four minutes into the game which was saved. The grad student had a second shot saved before Trey Ralston and Hayden Carling had their shots stopped by the Diplomats goalkeeper.
 
Franklin & Marshall scored the first two goals on the second quarter before LVC got on the board with a Hayden Carling man-up goal. The Diplomats added a goal in the quarter to take a 14-1 halftime lead. They extended the advantage to 17-1 with the first three goals of the second half. Ethan Keenan ripped a shot for his first goal of the year. After a pair of Diplomat goals Rowan Myers scored on an extra-man opportunity off an assist from Trey Ralston to end the third quarter.
 
The Dutchmen outscored the Diplomats in the fourth quarter with three goals compared to just two for the visitors. Ralston and Jacob Olson scored the first two goals of the period. F&M scored with just under nine minutes to play before Lux found the back of the net a few minutes later. The Diplomats scored the final goal of the game in the final minute.
 
Inside the Box
  • Ralston and Carling had two points each with a goal and an assist each. Ralston took five shots while Carling had three.
  • Lux also took five shots and scored a goal.
  • Keenan and Myers had a goal on two shots apiece. Olson scored on his only shot of the game.
  • Jake Bollinger and Sam Spagnuolo led the team with four ground balls each.
  • The Dutchmen were 16-22 on clear attempts and scored on both of their extra-man opportunities.

LVC will have a week off before hosting Haverford College next Saturday at 1 p.m. on Arnold Field.
