NEWTOWN, Pa. – Three Lebanon Valley College student-athletes from two teams were recognized by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) for their performances during the past week, as the conference office announced its weekly awards in a release on Tuesday, Nov. 4.
The Lebanon Valley College volleyball team swept the MAC Freedom honors following wins over Delaware Valley University and Stevenson University. Senior outside hitter
Mattea Penner was selected as the conference's Offensive Player of the Week, and junior middle hitter
Teaguen Reynolds was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Week. Lebanon Valley's women's ice hockey team also received an award after sweeping Chatham University in its first weekend of competition, as sophomore forward
Addison Taylert was named the MAC Ice Hockey Offensive Player of the Week.
Penner tallied 37 kills in eight sets, including a career-high 27 in a 3-2 win over Stevenson on Saturday, Nov. 1. She added five aces, 15 digs, and four blocks as LVC snapped a 13-match losing streak to the Mustangs with the first victory over Stevenson since 2009. She had a match-high 10 kills and one ace in a 3-0 sweep at Delaware Valley to clinch a spot in the MAC Freedom Championship. Penner has been chosen as the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week twice this season, as the senior was also honored on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The outside hitter has now earned four conference weekly awards in her career.
Reynolds totaled 12 blocks and six digs across two wins. She recorded eight blocks in the victory over Stevenson on Saturday, matching her season high and ranking second-most in a five-set match for conference teams this season. Reynolds has earned two weekly honors in her career, as the junior was also selected as the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 23. The Dutchmen have now been recognized by the conference six times this season. Additionally, this is the first time LVC has swept the MAC Freedom weekly awards since outside hitter
Taylor McInerney was named the Offensive Player of the Week, and libero
Abigail Souder was listed as the Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 28, 2024.
Taylert totaled three points on two goals and an assist as LVC opened its season with a weekend sweep of Chatham. She recorded all three points in a 4-0 win on Saturday, including the game-winner in the first period, while posting a +3 rating across both games. Taylert's first career MAC weekly honor also marks the first award Lebanon Valley has received from the conference this season.
