Women’s Soccer Closes Out Regular Season at Nationally Ranked Misericordia

DALLAS, Pa. ­­– The Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team closed out the regular season against No. 16 Misericordia University, as the program dropped a 5-0 contest on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Mangelsdorf Field. 

The Dutchmen (13-3-2, 4-2-1 MAC Freedom) recorded the first shot of the game, as Abrielle Miller sent an attempt above the net at 4:43 into the first half. The Cougars (14-3-1, 7-0-0 MAC Freedom) later put a shot on goal at the 10:21 mark, which resulted in goalkeeper Camryn Porter posting a save for LVC. Lebanon Valley's defense also blocked a shot attempt by Misericordia 11:18 into the contest before Porter made more saves for the Dutchmen at the 14:35, 18:48, and 20:07 marks. The Flying Dutchmen then blocked a shot by the opposition 23:40 into the first, while Porter made a save at the 24:48 mark and the program's defensive unit had another block at the 28:29 mark. 

Misericordia scored on a goal by Esabella Mendola at the 28:48 mark and a goal by Olivia Maniskas at the 34:42 mark, taking a 2-0 lead. The Cougars put another shot on target 39:27 into the first half, and Porter came through with a save for the Dutchmen. Misericordia also tallied the last shot before halftime, registering an attempt that went to the right of the net with 46 remaining.

The Cougars added two more points early in the second half, going up 4-0 after a goal by Mendola at the 45:51 mark and a goal by Maniskas at the 51:37 mark. Misericordia put another shot on goal 54:53 into the game, and goalkeeper Addison Zielenieski delivered a save for Lebanon Valley. The Cougars also logged a shot at the 58:26 mark, which went above the net. The Dutchmen kept working to generate offensive opportunities as well, as Miller put a shot on target that was saved at the 60:35 mark. 

Later in the second half, Sophia Floyd helped post a team save for Lebanon Valley at the 66:15 mark by kicking the ball away to prevent it from going into the net. LVC's defense blocked a shot attempt by Misericordia 30 seconds later as well. The Cougars also sent a shot to the left of the net at the 70:47 mark, before sending a try above the net at the 71:14 mark. Misericordia then tacked on a tally with a goal by Kimberly Rudy at the 79:06 mark, making it a 5-0 contest. This would stand as the final score, as the teams proceeded to go back and forth defensively during the remaining minutes.

Lebanon Valley will begin postseason competition on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m., when the program will travel to take on Stevens Institute of Technology for the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom Semifinal at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.
