ANNVILLE, Pa. – Gabby Hansson and
Naomi Bowman scored their first career goals for the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team, helping lead the program to a 3-0 victory over Hood College on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at Herbert Field.
Abrielle Miller also netted the game-winning goal for LVC in the first half.
The Dutchmen (8-1-2, 0-0-1 MAC Freedom) and the Blazers (3-8-0, 0-1-0 MAC Commonwealth) went back and forth defensively early in the first half, as neither program took a shot for over 10 minutes at the start. Hood recorded the first shot of the day, sending the ball to the right of the net at the 10:25 mark. Lebanon Valley then generated an offensive opportunity with a shot on goal by
Jayme Beninda, which was saved 14:20 into the contest. The Blazers countered with a shot on target at the 15:58 mark, and goalkeeper
Addison Zielenieski came through with the save for LVC.
Megan Ressler then logged an attempt for the Flying Dutchmen that went above the net 17:19 into the first.
Hood followed this with a shot to the left of the net at the 25:14 mark. Lebanon Valley then took a pair of shots, as
Jordan Lasky's attempt went over the upper-right corner of the net at the 27:00 mark before
Kalei Noonan had a try go above the net 28:35 into the first stanza. The Dutchmen later opened the scoring at the 31:52 mark, claiming a 1-0 lead over the Blazers. Miller took a shot from the back of the penalty box, which ended up in the lower-right corner of the net for a goal. Lasky was credited with the assist on the first goal of the afternoon.
LVC remained aggressive offensively as the first half progressed, as Miller sent a shot over the upper-right corner of the net at the 34:01 mark before putting a shot on goal that was saved at the 35:16 mark. Bowman also contributed to the squad's offensive efforts, sending an attempt to the right of the net at the 38:33 mark before Miller had a try go to the right of the goal 40:58 into the stanza.
Alison Sepkovic followed this with a shot for Lebanon Valley that went off the crossbar at the 42:56 mark. The Dutchmen found the net again before the break, taking a 2-0 advantage with 1:33 remaining. Sepkovic delivered a cross from the right side of the penalty box to just beyond the top of the goal box, leading to Hansson kicking the ball to the left of the lower-center portion of the net for a goal. LVC took this two-goal lead into halftime.
Lebanon Valley created some scoring chances early in the second half, as Ressler sent a shot to the left of the net 51:09 into the game before Noonan put a shot on goal that was saved at the 55:35 mark. Hood responded with a shot to the right of the net at the 62:06 mark. The Flying Dutchmen continued to send the ball toward the net as the stanza progressed, as Miller took a shot on target that was saved 62:52 into the contest, and Ressler had an attempt saved at the 65:39 mark. The Blazers followed this with a shot on goal at the 70:41 mark, and Zielenieski posted a stop for LVC.
Ressler registered a couple more shots for the Dutchmen as the second half rolled on, sending the ball over the net at the 73:01 and 74:24 marks. Lebanon Valley then added an insurance point 74:55 into the game, extending its advantage to 3-0. Hood's defense deflected the ball toward Bowman in the penalty box, leading to the first-year sending a shot into the lower-left corner of the net for an unassisted goal. The programs proceeded to battle back and forth defensively through the remaining minutes of the contest. The Blazers sent the last shot of the day to the right of the net with just two seconds to go, prompting the Dutchmen to secure the 3-0 victory.

- The win extended Lebanon Valley's unbeaten streak to four games.
- Miller scored her sixth goal of the season, marking her third game-winner of the campaign. The junior has recorded a point in each of LVC's 11 games this year. Miller also tied a game-high five shots and logged a game-high three shots on target.
- Hansson netted her first career goal, marking the first two points of her career. The sophomore took just one shot during the contest.
- Bowman also scored her first collegiate goal. The first-year took two shots with one attempt on target.
