HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team battled valiantly in its matchup against Stevens Institute of Technology, but ultimately dropped a close 1-0 contest on Saturday, Oct. 25 at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.
The Dutchmen (12-2-2, 3-1-1 MAC Freedom) and the Ducks (7-3-6, 4-1-0 MAC Freedom) went back and forth defensively early in the first half, as neither program took a shot for nearly 17 minutes at the start. Stevens opened the scoring on the first shot of the game, taking a 1-0 lead after a goal by Alana Odom at the 16:55 mark. The Ducks put another attempt on target 21:30 into the contest, but goalkeeper
Camryn Porter came through with a save for Lebanon Valley.
Stevens also tallied shots at the 27:37 and 29:52 marks, and both tries went above the net. The Ducks then logged another shot on goal 31:55 into the first stanza, and Porter delivered another important stop for the Flying Dutchmen. This was followed by an offensive opportunity for the Ducks at the 32:55 mark, but their attempt ended up left of the net. Stevens had another shot attempt at the 38:18 mark, which was blocked by LVC's defense before the Ducks sent the last two shots of the half to the left of the net at the 38:51 and 42:23 marks.
Stevens registered the first two shots of the second half, tallying an attempt that went high six seconds into the stanza, before a try went to the right of the goal at the 47:23 mark. Lebanon Valley also created a scoring chance, as
Jordan Lasky took a shot that went to the left of the net at the 51:14 mark. The squads proceeded to battle on the defensive end for nearly 15 minutes, as neither team took a shot until the Ducks had an attempt go above the net 66:10 into the game.
The Dutchmen also continued to post a strong defensive effort as the second half rolled on, blocking a shot attempt by Stevens at the 72:25 mark. This was followed by the programs going back and forth for nearly 14 minutes, until the Ducks sent the ball to the right of the net 86:13 into the contest. Stevens later took the last shot of the game at the 87:31 mark, kicking the ball above the net. Ultimately, the Ducks maintained their one-goal advantage through the end of play.
