The Dutchmen drove the ball down to the King's 17, where they faced a fourth-and-seven with 10:29 on the clock. The Dutchmen attempted to go for it, and a crossing pass to Bryant in the end zone fell incomplete as the Monarchs took over on downs. King's responded with another long drive that went 83 yards in 10 plays. The drive ended with a 22-yard touchdown pass that put the Monarchs up 14-7 with 5:36 left in the half.

The Dutchmen went three-and-out on their drive, and King's drove the ball down to just outside the red zone as the clock wound down in the half. They were faced with a fourth-and-one at the 20 with 32 seconds left. The Dutchmen came up with a big stop on defense as J.D. McCallion stopped Brennan Robinson at the line to give LVC the ball. Klitsch got the Dutchmen into field goal range with a 15-yard completion to Trey Freeman, a 19-yard completion to Alex Vassallo, and a six-yard completion to Freeman. Dym stepped up for a 47-yard field goal attempt on the final play of the half, but his kick was off the mark.

The teams traded scoreless drives in the third quarter. The Monarchs started the half with the ball and were able to get one first down before the Dutchmen locked down at the line and stuffed a pair of running plays. Klitsch found Vassallo for a pair of 12-yard completions, but the Monarchs got a big stop on a screen play during a third and long. Aonghas Evanick came up with a big 19-yard sack on third down to give LVC back the ball. The teams traded three-and-outs to end the quarter.

Avrey Grimm had a 16-yard run on the first play of LVC's drive. Two plays later, Speyerer found Heisey down the sideline for a great one-handed 39-yard completion. The quarterback then hit Adam Acker in the back of the end zone for a 16-yard strike to tie the game at 14. The Dutchmen forced a fumble on the ensuing kickoff and recovered. They didn't waste any time in taking the lead as Vassallo shrugged off a defender in the end zone and caught a 17-yard touchdown pass. King's blocked the extra point to keep the score at 20-14.
