Balanced Effort Leads Dutchmen Women’s Soccer to Win at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team recorded its fifth consecutive victory to remain unbeaten in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom competition, as a pair of goals early in the second half and a strong defensive performance led the program to a 2-0 win at DeSales University on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Megan Ressler and Abrielle Miller each found the net for the Dutchmen in the second stanza, playing an integral role in the victory over the Bulldogs. Goalkeeper Camryn Porter also posted her ninth shutout of the year for LVC, tying a single-season program record.

The Dutchmen (12-1-2, 3-0-1 MAC Freedom) created some scoring chances early in the game, as the program took two shots with an attempt on target during the first two minutes. The Bulldogs (3-8-2, 1-3-0 MAC Freedom) countered with a shot, which deflected off the crossbar at the 3:01 mark. Lebanon Valley's offense generated another opportunity 8:15 into the first half, as Jayme Beninda sent the ball above the net. DeSales followed this with a shot on goal 43 seconds later, which resulted in Porter making a save for LVC. The Bulldogs then sent shots to the right of the net at the 12:40 and 14:31 marks, while Porter posted another stop for the Flying Dutchmen 18:12 into the contest.

Lebanon Valley kept tallying shots as the opening half progressed, as Kalei Noonan kicked the ball to the left of the goal at the 22:23 mark, while Ressler also sent a try to the left of the net at the 27:26 mark. Ressler later tallied a shot on target for the Dutchmen, which was saved 33:15 into the game. The programs proceeded to go back and forth defensively for nearly seven minutes, as neither squad logged a shot during this stretch. DeSales then took a shot that went to the left of the net at the 40:14 mark, and Porter made a save for LVC on an attempt by the Bulldogs 30 seconds later. The Flying Dutchmen registered the last shot of the first stanza, as Miller sent the ball above the net with 1:42 remaining, before the teams entered halftime in a 0-0 tie.

Lebanon Valley continued to send the ball toward the net when the second half got underway, as Jordan Lasky put a shot on goal that was saved 46 seconds into the stanza. The Dutchmen then opened the scoring at the 47:48 mark, taking a 1-0 lead over the Bulldogs. The program got on the board when Olivia Baldwin delivered a cross to Ressler, who sent a header shot into the upper-left portion of the net for a goal. DeSales countered with a shot that went above the net at the 48:30 mark. This was followed by the teams battling defensively, as neither side took a shot for 10 minutes.

The Flying Dutchmen added another tally 58:30 into the contest, taking a 2-0 advantage. The squad went up by two when Miller found the upper-left portion of the net for a goal, following an assist by Alison Sepkovic. The defenses of both teams then kept producing as the second stanza went on, preventing each other from taking a shot for over 13 minutes. DeSales later attempted a shot at the 71:40 mark that went to the right of the net, before taking a shot on target that Porter saved for Lebanon Valley at the 79:04 mark.

LVC responded with a shot on goal by Lasky 80:32 into the game, which was saved. The Bulldogs followed this by sending the ball toward the net again at the 83:09 mark, and Porter came through with her fifth and final save of the day for the Dutchmen. Ultimately, Lebanon Valley preserved its lead through the end of play to secure the 2-0 victory.
