NEWTOWN, Pa. – Three Lebanon Valley College student-athletes from three teams garnered recognition from the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) for their performances over the past week, as the conference office announced its weekly awards in a release on Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Junior forward and midfielder
Claire Weidenhammer was honored as the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week after helping lead Lebanon Valley's field hockey team to a pair of wins. Dutchmen Women's Soccer was also recognized after a 2-0 week, as junior forward
Abrielle Miller was selected as the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week. Additionally, sophomore opposite hitter
Jillian Jefferys earned the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week award for her contributions to the Lebanon Valley College volleyball team's past three victories.
Weidenhammer totaled six goals across two road victories, outscoring five of the conference's other seven teams combined. She scored twice in a 4-0 win at Delaware Valley University on Wednesday, Oct. 15, and then recorded a career-high four goals—including the game-winner—in a 9-0 victory at FDU-Florham on Saturday, Oct. 18. Her four-goal effort ranks among the top 10 single-game totals in Division III this season. This marks the second time Weidenhammer has been named the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week this season, as the junior was also recognized on Tuesday, Sept. 2. Additionally, the Dutchmen have received three weekly awards from the conference this fall.
Miller posted two goals and an assist across a pair of home wins. She began the week by assisting LVC's third goal in a 6-0 victory over Manhattanville University on Wednesday. Miller then scored twice—including the game-winner—in a 4-1 win over FDU-Florham on Saturday. This is Miller's first conference weekly award of the campaign, and it marks the second of her career. The forward was also chosen as the MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 4, 2024. The Flying Dutchmen have now been presented with six weekly honors from the conference this season.
Jefferys tallied 42 kills over three matches, recording a career-high 14 in each win as LVC went 3-0. She hit .600 with 14 kills in a sweep of Neumann University and had four blocks in a five-set victory over York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday. This marks the first conference weekly award Jeffreys has received in her career. Lebanon Valley has earned four MAC Freedom weekly awards so far this year.
