Cross Country
The Dutchmen cross country teams were off last weekend and maintained their spots in the Mid-Atlantic Regional rankings. Both teams are third heading into this weekend's last big meet of the regular season at Rowan's Inter-Regional Border Battle. The men's team is still 21st in the national rankings.
Field Hockey (7-5)
LVC went 1-1 last week as they finished non-conference play with a 7-0 victory at Gwynedd Mercy University and then played tough in a 2-1 defeat to current No. 12-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in the conference opener. The Dutchmen moved down three spots in the NCAA Power Index (NPI) rankings to 61st and are eighth in the region. Stevens is atop the region and MAC Freedom at eighth. LVC will play two road games this week against Delaware Valley University and FDU-Florham. The Dutchmen are down two spots to ninth in team save percentage at .867 and now 10th in goals against average at 0.76. They are 11th in shutouts per game after recording their fourth shutout last week.
After recording another shutout last week, the Dutchmen moved up one spot to seventh in save percentage at 0.871, and up nine spots to 10th in shutouts per game with 0.50. They also moved up five spots in goals against average to 11th at 0.72. LVC leads the MAC Freedom in all three categories. Ella Weidenhammer is ranked in the top 15 in two categories, as she is still seventh in save percentage at 0.871 and down to 13th in goals against average at 0.82. Amelia Taube is tied for first in the conference and 30th in Division III with four defensive saves.
Football (3-2)
LVC dropped a heartbreaking 23-21 decision to Misericordia University on the final play of the game in a battle for first place in the conference standings. The Dutchmen are 89th in the first NPI rankings of the year. They are third in the Middle Atlantic Conference behind Misericordia and Eastern University. The defense had two interceptions last week to move up to 14th in the nation from 20th with nine on the season. They are still fourth in defensive touchdowns with three. The offense has only thrown one interception this season, with only four teams in the nation not throwing an interception so far. The Dutchmen are 10th in turnover margin at 1.60, up six spots from last week, and LVC's two turnovers are tied for second in the nation, only behind the University of Mount Union. The red zone defense is now ranked 48th at 68.8 percent after being 27th last week, while the red zone offense moved into the top 50 at 43rd with an efficiency of 0.875. The defense team pass efficiency is 38th at 107.58, while the fourth down conversion percentage is also 38th at 64.3 percent. LVC is 45th in blocked kicks with three, down 12 spots from last week. The special teams unit is 27th in blocked punts with one.
Carter Foust is now fifth in Division III with 1.00 interceptions per game and 147 return yards. His 1.60 passes defended per game is 13th. Cameron Hirshman is one of 37 players in the nation to return a punt for a touchdown. Dion Bryant is still ranked high in a few rushing categories. He is up to 16th from 42nd in total rushing yards at 595 after a career-high game. Bryant is up 14 spots to 15th in rushing yards per game at 119.0. The senior is also 31st in yards per carry at 6.33.
Men's Soccer (7-2-4)
LVC went 1-1-0 last week with a tough defeat to Dickinson College, which is ranked ninth in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll. The Dutchmen ended the week with a thrilling conference win over Delaware Valley. The squad moved up a spot to 77th in the NPI rankings and is up one spot to fourth in the regional rankings. LVC will host FDU-Florham on Saturday in their only game of the week. The Devils are fifth in the United Soccer Coaches regional rankings and sixth in the NPI regional rankings.
Nathan Prex scored two goals against Delaware Valley, but has moved down to ninth in goals per game at 1.00 and ninth in points per game at 2.38. Last week, he was eighth in goals and fifth in points. His three game-winning goals are down seven spots to 24th. Prex is eighth in total points with 31 and fifth in total goals with 13. He was ninth in goals and sixth in points last week. His 5.15 shots per game are up to fourth from fifth, while his 2.69 shots on goal per game are still third. The senior is ranked tied for fourth among active Division III student-athletes with 107 career points and is tied for sixth in goals at 43 in 65 games.
Women's Soccer (9-1-2)
The Dutchmen posted two more clean sheets last week and scored nine goals. They will have two more home games this week, hosting Manhattanville University and a big conference battle with FDU-Florham. They are up five spots to 59th in the NPI rankings and are down one spot to sixth in the region. LVC is still holding strong at eighth in the United Soccer Coaches regional rankings.
The squad moved up to fourth in shutout percentage with two clean sheets last week for a season total of nine shutouts and a percentage of 0.750. They were 17th last week. The team leads the MAC Freedom in scoring at 2.50 goals per game and is 38th in the nation with 6.58 corner kicks per game. Their 2.00 assists per game is 42nd, while the 0.583 goals against average is 44th. Camryn Porter is third in the nation with eight shutouts and 46th with a 0.571 goals against average. Jordan Lasky and Abrielle Miller are 43rd with three game-winning goals each. Lasky is 48th with nine total goals and 47th with 0.75 goals per game. Miller is 48th with six total assists, 46th with 0.50 assists per game, and 33rd with 4.50 shots per game.
