ANNVILLE, Pa. – Dom Beddia scored his first career goal while
Nathan Prex also found the net for the Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team, as the program tied FDU-Florham in a 2-2 battle on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Herbert Field.
LVC held Senior Day on Saturday, recognizing its eight seniors before the game. During the ceremony, the program honored Prex,
Aidan Smith,
Nathan Newsom,
Logan Hicks,
Harrison Davis,
Ben Kolarek,
Ethan Groff, and
LJ Ndaro.
The Dutchmen (7-2-5, 1-0-2 MAC Freedom) registered the first shot of the afternoon, as Prex sent an attempt over the upper-right corner of the net at the 4:20 mark. The programs proceeded to compete defensively for over nine minutes, until the Devils (9-1-4, 1-0-2 MAC Freedom) sent a try over the upper-right corner of the goal 13:59 into the contest. Lebanon Valley followed this with a pair of offensive opportunities, as
Ethan Groff sent a shot above the upper-left corner of the net at the 17:09 mark, and
Will Burton had a shot attempt blocked at the 23:14 mark.
The Flying Dutchmen opened the scoring 23:26 into the first half, taking a 1-0 lead over the Devils. After a cross that
Nathan Kimball delivered from the left side to the penalty box, Prex kicked the ball into the lower-center portion of the net for a goal. FDU-Florham countered with a shot that went above the net at the 30:52 mark. Lebanon Valley also kept working to create scoring chances as the first stanza progressed, as Prex had a try blocked at the 32:17 mark while
Ollie Lynch took a shot that was saved seven seconds later.
The Devils later took their first shot on target at the 40:45 mark, and goalkeeper
Ryan Simonette came through with the save for the Dutchmen. Lynch followed this with another shot for LVC, which went over the upper-right corner of the net at the 41:25 mark. FDU-Florham then put a shot on goal at the 42:23 mark, which resulted in Simonette's second save. Lebanon Valley responded with a shot on target by
Gavin Rapp that was saved 43:52 into the game, while Smith had a try saved just 15 seconds before the break. The Devils took the last shot of the first, as the Flying Dutchmen blocked an attempt by the opposition just before the clock expired. LVC took its one-goal advantage into halftime.
FDU-Florham got on the board with the first shot of the second half, tying the game at 1-1 on a goal by Piotr Widerynski 4:28 into the stanza. The squads then went back and forth on the defensive end until Prex took a shot for Lebanon Valley, which went to the left of the net at the 57:11 mark. The Devils countered with a pair of scoring chances, sending the ball to the right of the net at the 58:02 mark and to the left of the net at the 60:03 mark. FDU-Florham also had a try go above the goal at the 62:50 mark. The Devils then scored again 63:01 into the contest, taking a 2-1 lead on a goal by Diego Trujillo.
The Devils logged more shots as the second half progressed, sending a try off the crossbar before another attempt went over the upper-left corner of the net, within 14 seconds in the 66
th minute. The Dutchmen also kept competing on the offensive end, as Prex took a shot that was blocked and Newsom recorded an attempt that went to the left of the goal within 19 seconds in the 68
th minute.
JJ Porter also put a shot on target for LVC that was saved, and Rapp had a try go to the right of the net within 17 seconds in the 71
st minute. FDU-Florham later registered a shot that went off the crossbar.
As Lebanon Valley kept working to even the score, Prex put a shot on goal that was saved at the 80:28 mark. The Devils responded with a shot less than two minutes later, which went above the net. LVC followed this with a shot by Burton that went to the right of the net at the 83:22 mark. The Dutchmen then found the net again with 4:12 remaining, tying things up at 2-2. The program tied the contest when Beddia sent a shot from the goal box into the lower-center portion of the net for a goal, courtesy of an assist by Rapp. Lebanon Valley proceeded to battle until the final minute, as Prex sent a shot above the upper-right corner of the net at the 87:37 mark and Kolarek logged an attempt that was saved at the 88:09 mark. Ultimately, the game concluded in a 2-2 tie.
