CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Nathan Prex scored two goals for the Lebanon Valley College men's soccer team, as the program battled to a 2-2 tie with DeSales University on Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Harrison Davis also tallied a point for LVC, dishing out an assist.
The Bulldogs (3-9-3, 0-2-2 MAC Freedom) opened the scoring 3:41 into the first half, taking a 1-0 lead when Liam MacDonald netted a header shot. The Dutchmen (7-2-6, 1-0-3 MAC Freedom) countered with an offensive opportunity, as
Simon Grimes put an attempt on goal that was saved at the 3:48 mark. The Bulldogs followed this with a shot on target at the 5:37 mark, which resulted in goalkeeper
Ryan Simonette delivering a save for Lebanon Valley. LVC responded with another shot, as
Charlie Kramer had a try saved 6:03 into the contest.
The Flying Dutchmen also continued to battle defensively as the first stanza progressed, as Simonette posted three saves during the ninth minute to limit the opposition. Two of these saves by LVC's goalkeeper were recorded shortly after corner kicks by DeSales. Lebanon Valley's offense then sent the ball toward the net, as Prex put a shot on target that was saved at the 14:23 mark. This was followed by a shot on goal from the Bulldogs, and Simonette came through with a save for LVC at the 16:07 mark. Lebanon Valley's defense also blocked a shot attempt by DeSales at the 20:19 mark. The programs proceeded to go back and forth defensively for nearly eight minutes, as neither team took a shot until Simonette saved a try by the Bulldogs 28:18 into the first half.
Later in the first stanza, LVC's offense created some scoring chances with a shot on goal by
Ben Kolarek that was saved at the 36:34 mark, and two attempts by
Gavin Rapp that were saved within four seconds in the 38th minute.
Ben Ammon also contributed to these efforts for Lebanon Valley, tallying a try that went to the right of the net at the 39:04 mark. DeSales responded with shots on target at the 39:42 and 41:35 marks, and Simonette made saves on both attempts. The Dutchmen then got on the board at the 43:27 mark, prompting the programs to enter halftime in a 1-1 tie. After taking the ball past multiple defenders to behind the left corner of the goal box, Prex sent a shot into the lower-right corner of the net for an unassisted goal.
The Flying Dutchmen and the Bulldogs continued to compete defensively early in the second half. Lebanon Valley then found the net again at the 48:20 mark, taking a 2-1 advantage. Davis took a shot from behind the penalty box that deflected off the crossbar and went toward Prex in the penalty box, who kicked the ball into the upper-left corner of the net for his second goal of the afternoon. Lebanon Valley continued to register shots as the stanza went on, as
Ethan Groff sent an attempt to the right of the net at the 62:42 mark.
DeSales countered with a couple of shots, and both tries ended up left of the net at the 63:45 and 65:44 marks. The Bulldogs also took a shot on goal 69:30 into the contest, and Simonette recorded another important save for the Dutchmen. Lebanon Valley remained aggressive offensively as the second half rolled on as well, as Prex sent a shot over the upper-left corner of the net at the 70:53 mark. Rapp later logged a shot on target for LVC 79:08 into the game, which was saved. DeSales then scored at the 85:55 mark, tying the game at 2-2 on a goal by Peter Cardinale. The Bulldogs followed this by taking the final shot of the day at the 87:39 mark, which Simonette saved for the Flying Dutchmen. Ultimately, the contest concluded in a 2-2 tie.

- Prex scored two goals to bring his Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom-leading total to 16 goals. The senior's four points also extended his conference-leading total to 37. Additionally, Prex led the Dutchmen with five shots while tying for the team's most shots on target with three.
