Seven Dutchmen Tally Points in Women’s Soccer’s Win Over Manhattanville

ANNVILLE, Pa. ­­– The Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team received contributions from several players during its 6-0 victory over Manhattanville University, as seven members of the Dutchmen recorded at least one point on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Herbert Field. 

Jordan Lasky helped lead the way offensively, netting a game-high two goals. Alison Sepkovic and Kalei Noonan also made an impact, recording three points each with a goal and an assist. The Flying Dutchmen were stellar defensively as well, holding the opposition to just one shot. 

The Dutchmen (10-1-2, 1-0-1 MAC Freedom) opened the scoring 1:44 into the first half, taking a 1-0 lead over the Valiants (4-8-0, 3-4-0 Skyline) on the first shot of the afternoon. Noonan attempted a shot from behind the penalty box and sent the ball into the lower-left portion of the net for a goal, courtesy of an assist from Sepkovic. Lasky followed this with another offensive opportunity for LVC, putting a shot on goal that was saved at the 4:08 mark. Lebanon Valley then found the net again 7:05 into the game, taking a 2-0 advantage. The squad went up by two when Lasky took a shot from the goal box and kicked the ball into the lower-right corner of the net for a goal, after an assist by Jayme Beninda.

The Flying Dutchmen continued to tally shots as the opening half progressed, registering eight attempts over the next 17:24. During this stretch, Lasky put a shot on target that was saved at the 10:02 mark, and Abrielle Miller had a try saved 12:45 into the contest. Chloe Moser also took a shot for LVC that was saved at the 14:51 mark, while Beninda's attempt was saved at the 16:32 mark. Lebanon Valley put another point on the board 24:58 into the first, extending its lead to 3-0. Miller began the scoring play by delivering a cross from the right side of the penalty box to behind the goal box, which led to Lasky taking a shot that deflected off a defender before going into the lower-right corner of the net for a goal. 

LVC remained aggressive offensively over the final 20 minutes of the first half, recording six more shots before the break. Miller sent a shot to the left of the net at the 29:20 mark, while Megan Ressler attempted a shot that was blocked 30 seconds later. Mikayla Mitchell also logged an attempt for Lebanon Valley that went to the left of the net 35:48 into the game, and Naomi Bowman had a try blocked at the 39:47 mark. Noonan then sent the ball over the upper-right corner of the net at the 42:04 mark, and while Kennedy Dings put a shot on goal that was saved at the 43:09 mark. The Dutchmen were also productive on the defensive end, keeping Manhattanville from taking a shot during the first half. LVC took its three-goal lead into halftime. 

Lebanon Valley created more scoring chances when the second half got underway, tallying six shots during the first 5:12. During this stretch, Beninda took a shot on target that was saved at the 46:08 mark, Kaylee Haas had an attempt that was saved at the 47:35 mark, and Gabby Hansson logged a try that was saved at the 49:09 mark. The Flying Dutchmen scored again 52:25 into the contest, going ahead 4-0. Mitchell took a shot from just in front of the net, in the goal box, which deflected off the goalkeeper before ending up in the lower-right corner of the net. Beninda was also credited with the assist on LVC's fourth goal of the day.

The Dutchmen continued their offensive clinic with a goal at the 58:25 mark, making it a 5-0 game. Sepkovic attempted a shot from the left side of the penalty box, and the ball went into the lower-right corner of the net for an unassisted goal. The programs proceeded to go back and forth defensively for over eight minutes, as neither team took a shot until Bowman put an attempt on goal that was saved at the 66:40 mark. 

Lebanon Valley tacked on an insurance point 67:16 into the contest, taking a 6-0 lead. McKenna Valentine took a shot from near the center of the penalty box, which deflected off the hand of the goalkeeper before going into the upper-right portion of the goal. Noonan dished out the assist on LVC's final goal of the day. The Flying Dutchmen also kept generating offensive opportunities as the end of the game approached, as Lauren O'Malley put two shots on target that were saved within 47 seconds in the 79th minute. The Valiants countered with their only shot at the 87:38 mark, which went to the right of the net. LVC then logged three more shots during the remaining minutes, and Emilee Walborn registered the last attempt, which went to the left of the net with 47 seconds to go. The Dutchmen went on to preserve their advantage and secure the win. 

Inside the Box Score
  • Lebanon Valley's third straight victory extended its unbeaten streak to six games.
  • Lasky recorded a game-high two goals, bringing her Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom-leading total to 11 goals. The senior also leads the conference with 24 points. Additionally, Lasky posted game-highs with four shots and four shots on target. 
  • Noonan scored her second goal of the season, which also marked her first career game-winner. The sophomore dished out her first career assist on Valentine's goal as well. 
  • Sepkovic netted her fifth goal of the campaign and assisted Noonan's game-winning goal. 
  • Valentine scored her first career goal. 
  • Mitchell logged her second goal of the fall. 
  • Beninda tallied a game-high and tied a season-high with two assists. The first-year was credited with assists on Lasky's first goal and the goal by Mitchell. Beninda also took three shots, including three shots on target. 
  • Miller recorded her team-leading seventh assist of the year on Lasky's second goal. The junior is also tied for the most assists in the conference this fall. Additionally, Miller took three shots with an attempt on goal.
  • The Dutchmen outshot the Valiants 34-1 and had an 18-0 advantage in shots on goal. 
  • Defensively, the Flying Dutchmen posted their 10th shutout of the season. 
  • LVC had a 17-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Dutchmen will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18, at noon, when the program will host FDU-Florham at Herbert Field.
