Five Dutchmen Score Goals in Women’s Hockey’s Victory at Hilbert

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Anna Dale and Tiffany Anderson both tallied four points for the Lebanon Valley College Women's Ice Hockey team, fueling the squad's commanding 9-0 victory over Hilbert College on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Nike Base. Dale tied an LVC single-game record with four goals and set the program's single-season goals record to help seal the team's weekend sweep, leading five Flying Dutchmen who found the net in the series finale.

The Dutchmen (8-3-1, 5-2-1 MAC) sent the puck toward the net several times early in the first period, registering 10 shots on goal during the first 8:45. Leela Nemani played a role in generating these offensive opportunities, recording three shots during this stretch. Lebanon Valley dominated the possession during this span, which led to the program keeping the Hawks (0-10-0) from taking a shot on goal for over 10 minutes at the start. Goaltender Lacy Bigelow made her first two saves of the afternoon at the 10:13 and 11:19 marks. The goalie then came through with stops at the 11:45, 11:57, and 12:35 marks.

The Flying Dutchmen opened the scoring 16:05 into the opening period, taking a 1-0 lead over the Hawks. The program got on the board with Sky Campanile's first career goal, courtesy of assists by Erin Yorke and Madelynn Debelis. LVC then continued to record shots during the remaining minutes of the first, putting four more attempts on goal. During this stretch, Campanile tallied a shot that was saved 16:52 into the frame before Dale's try was saved 10 seconds later.

Lebanon Valley scored again 3:40 into the second period, taking a 2-0 advantage over Hilbert. The squad went up by two when Anderson sent a shot into the net after assists by Alex Franke and Najla Hatem. The program followed this with more opportunities, taking six shots on goal over the next 5:35. The Dutchmen then found the net at the 9:49 mark, extending their lead to 3-0 on a short-handed goal by Cheyenne Wilk with an assist from Jess Dawe. Hilbert countered with shots on goal at the 10:52, 12:30, and 12:47 marks, but Bigelow was there to make stops on each attempt. Addison Taylert also contributed to LVC's defensive efforts, blocking a shot 13:10 into the second.

The Flying Dutchmen scored their third goal of the second period at the 13:36 mark, making it a 4-0 game on Anderson's second goal after assists by Taylert and Yorke. Lebanon Valley was also productive defensively during the rest of the second frame, keeping the opposition scoreless. The Hawks began a power play in the 19th minute and took five shots on goal in the last minute of the period, which resulted in five saves by Bigelow.

Hilbert created some offensive opportunities early in the third period, but Bigelow came through with a pair of saves within four seconds during the opening minute. Lebanon Valley resumed the scoring 1:37 into the third, going ahead 5-0 on a goal by Maeghan Howson with an assist from Campanile. The Hawks followed this with a pair of shots on goal, leading to saves at the 3:13 and 3:15 marks. LVC remained aggressive offensively as the period progressed, sending eight shots toward the net over the next 1:54.
