PITTSTON, Pa. – Jess Dawe and
Anna Dale each scored a goal for the Lebanon Valley College Women's Ice hockey team, as the program dropped a hard-fought 3-2 game to King's College on Friday, Jan. 10 at the Revolution Ice Centre.
The Monarchs generated some offensive opportunities early in the first period, but goaltender
Mia Frisoni responded with five saves for the Dutchmen during the opening 5:33. The goaltender delivered four of these saves within 27 seconds in the sixth minute. Lebanon Valley's offense countered with some shots on goal, as Dale's attempt was saved at the 6:41 mark before
Tiffany Anderson's try was saved at the 8:38 mark. LVC also kept battling defensively, as Frisoni made a save while
Laura Radford, Anderson, and
Madisyn Olson each blocked a shot in the 10
th minute.
The Flying Dutchmen continued to send the puck toward the net as the first period progressed, as
Cheyenne Wilk and
Erin Yorke each took a shot on goal that was saved within 16 seconds in the 12
th minute. The programs proceeded to go back and forth defensively as Frisoni logged four more saves during the remainder of the frame, including two during a penalty kill. LVC then closed out the first by creating some scoring chances, including Yorke's shot on goal during a power play, which was saved with 12 seconds left.
Lebanon Valley registered the first shot on goal of the second period, as
Sky Campanile's attempt was saved two minutes into the frame. King's followed this with four shots on goal over the next 3:38, and Frisoni came through with saves for the Dutchmen on each try. The goaltender made three of these stops while the program was on the penalty kill. LVC kept working to create scoring chances as the period progressed, as
Maeghan Howson took a shot that was saved at the 6:43 mark before Dale's attempt was saved at the 8:09 mark. The Flying Dutchmen then got on the board 10:01 into the second, taking a 1-0 lead. The program went ahead on a short-handed goal by Dale, courtesy of an assist by Anderson.
Lebanon Valley quickly found the net again 12:03 into the period, extending their advantage to 2-0. The squad took a two-goal lead on a goal by Dawe, following assists by
Addison Taylert and
Leela Nemani. The Monarchs answered with a goal by Lucy Beal at the 13:49 mark, narrowing the score to 2-1. The Dutchmen followed this by sending a pair of shots toward the net, as Dale and Anderson both had an attempt saved within 22 seconds in the 16
th minute. King's then scored again 16:29 into the third on a goal by Abby Barlocker, tying the game at 2-2.
The Flying Dutchmen kept working to generate offensive opportunities as the contest entered the third period, as
Chelly Wolff recorded a shot on goal that was saved 58 seconds into the frame. Later in the period, Dale sent a puck toward the net that was saved at the 5:51 mark before Yorke's attempt was saved at the 7:59 mark. Lebanon Valley also continued to battle defensively, as
Julia Schafer blocked a shot by the Monarchs 8:58 into the period, and Frisoni made stops at the 13:28 and 14:26 marks. Additionally, Dawe blocked a shot for the program 14:32 into the third.
Frisoni continued to face shots on goal as the third period went on, and the goaltender responded by making more saves for LVC at the 16:18, 17:08, and 17:28 marks. Back on the offensive end, Howson created another scoring chance for Lebanon Valley by taking a shot on goal that was saved 18:20 into the third. The game was tied entering the final minute of regulation, but King's took a 3-2 lead with 26 seconds to go on another goal by Barlocker. The Dutchmen followed this by battling until the clock expired, as Anderson took a shot on goal that was saved with 24 seconds left. Ultimately, the Monarchs maintained their advantage through the end of the contest.

- Dale scored her conference-leading 14th goal of the season and the 21st goal of her career, tying the program record held by Abby Radcliffe. This also marks the sophomore's third career short-handed goal, setting the program record. The previous record of two-shorthanded goals was held by Nikki Lloyd '18. Additionally, Dale is tied for the MAC lead in points with 17.
- Dawe netted her second goal of the campaign.
- Anderson tallied her seventh assist of the winter on Dale's goal, which is tied for the most on the team. The junior also led the squad with 11 faceoff wins.
- Taylert dished out an assist on the goal by Dawe.
- Nemani also was credited with an assist on Dawe's goal, marking her seventh of the year to tie Anderson for the team lead.
- Lebanon Valley took 23 shots on goal.
- Dale had a game-high six shots on goal during the contest as well.
- Frisoni made 23 saves for the Dutchmen
- Defensively, LVC blocked 12 shots during the contest.
- Schafer, Anderson, and Norah McCauliffe tied a game-high two blocks.
- The Flying Dutchmen had a 31-25 advantage in faceoff victories.
