DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Ryan Harder and
Braden Bohannon each recorded double-doubles as the Lebanon Valley Men's Basketball team earned a big 64-54 victory at Delaware Valley University on Saturday afternoon in the first road conference game of the year.
The Dutchmen (7-6, 1-1 MAC Freedom) evened its conference mark with a big road win over the Aggies (6-7, 1-1 MAC Freedom). The teams traded scores over the first couple of possessions as DVU took an early 4-2 lead.
Wil Laskowski knocked down a three to give the Dutchmen their first lead of the game. The Aggies responded with a 8-0 run over the next couple of minutes to go up by seven.
Jason Penn stopped the run with a driving layup before a steal and bucket by the home team forced LVC to call a timeout.
Bohannon was subbed into the game out of the timeout and made an immediate impact as he hit a three pointer and then grabbed a defensive rebound.
Evan Smith got the Dutchmen within one point with a made three and then a layup off a pass from Bohannon. After another stop, Smith knocked down a jumper to give LVC a 17-16 lead.
Evin Timochenko, Penn, and Harder scored on consecutive possessions in the paint to increase the lead to seven points before DVU stopped the run with a three. The Dutchmen were able to get the lead back up to seven on a Timochenko layup and Bohannon foul shot with 2:30 left in the half. The Aggies scored on the final play of the half to cut the lead to five at 32-27.
The teams traded missed shots over the first couple possessions in the second half with
Kyle Tang scoring the first bucket with a layup. The Aggies used a 7-0 run over a span of 1:30 to tie the game up at 34. Timochenko and Tang scored on back-to-back layups but a pair of three pointers from the Aggies gave the hosts a two-point lead. Bohannon knocked down a jumper to tie the game and then Harder hit a three to put LVC back in the lead. Bohannon hit a pair of free throws, grabbed a defensive board, and then found Harder open for a three to push the lead to 48-42.
The teams used strong defense to keep scoring at a premium over the next four minutes, but the Dutchmen were able to get a three-pointer from Harder. DVU responded with a three at their end of the court. Tang scored on a driving layup to push the lead to six before the Aggies cut the advantage in half with a bucket and made free throw. The Dutchmen led 54-52 with five minutes to go in the game when Harder knocked down a three, Laskowski grabbed a rebound, and then Timochenko scored down low to put the Dutchmen up by seven with just under four to play. LVC's defense held the Aggies to just one made bucket over the final four minutes with Harder and Bohannon scoring to set the final.
Inside the Box
- Harder led the Dutchmen with 18 points and 11 rebounds. The senior was 6-11 from the field and knocked down four threes. He also had three steals and two assists.
- Bohannon finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds in 21 minutes of action. The senior shot fifty percent from the floor and knocked down six of seven foul shots. He added three assists and one steal.
- Timochenko was just shy of double figures with nine points and seven rebounds. Three of his rebounds came on the offensive glass.
- Tang scored eight points and dished out three assists with three rebounds. Smith added seven points while Penn had six.
- LVC had 11 offensive rebounds for the second time in three games and had a significant 41-30 rebounding edge. The rebounding advantage allowed LVC to outscore the Aggies 11-4 on second chance points.
