ANNVILLE, Pa. – Nathan Kimball scored his first career goal for the Lebanon Valley College Men's Soccer team, helping lead the squad to a 2-0 victory over Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Herbert Field.
The Dutchmen and the Lions battled defensively during the first half, limiting each other's offensive opportunities. The first shot on goal of the day was taken by Penn State Harrisburg 9:33 into the match, but goalkeeper
Dalton Fitterling was there to make the save. The goalie registered another stop 16:38 into the stanza, maintaining the scoreless tie. Lebanon Valley also worked to generate scoring chances as the game progressed, as
Lucas Strange sent a shot toward the bottom-center of the net that was saved at the 23:27 mark.
Aaron Weitzel also contributed to LVC's offensive efforts, registering a shot attempt that was saved 30:17 into the first. Defensively, the Flying Dutchmen prevented the opposition from taking a shot during the remainder of the opening half. The programs went into halftime in a 0-0 tie.
The teams kept posting solid defensive performances as the match went into half two. Lebanon Valley also continued to send shots toward the goalkeeper, as
Nolan Ross had an attempt that was saved 3:25 into the second stanza. The Lions countered with a shot 1:52 later, as Fitterling made his third save. The goalkeeper delivered another stop at the 58:48 mark, keeping things scoreless.
The Dutchmen opened the scoring 72:21 into the contest, taking a 1-0 lead. Kimball got the program on the board by sending a shot past the diving attempt of the goalkeeper and into the left corner of the net. The sophomore netted his first goal after assists by
Dom Beddia and
Jacob Kramer. Lebanon Valley tacked on another point 75:01 into the match, extending its advantage to 2-0. Prex delivered a goal on a ball that ended up in the right corner of the net, following an assist by Ross. The program continued producing defensively through the remainder of the half, keeping the opposition from taking a shot on goal during the final 14:59. LVC went on to close out the game and notch the 2-0 win.
