MADISON, N.J. – Lebanon Valley junior wide receiver
Deshawn Wilson scored the third touchdown of his career with a 95-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter of a tough 48-26 defeat to the FDU-Florham Football team on Saturday afternoon at Robert T. Shields Field in Madison, N.J.
The Devils (4-0, 3-0 Middle Atlantic Conference) got out to a great start during their homecoming game building a 27-0 lead over the first 20 minutes of the game. FDU-Florham wrapped up an 11-play, 78-yard drive on the first possession of the game with a four-yard touchdown run by their quarterback Ryon Thomas to take a 7-0 lead. After stopping the Dutchmen on offense, the Devils got a big 72-yard rushing touchdown on their next possession to make it 14-0. The lead grew to 21-0 after a 35-yard touchdown pass with 54 seconds left in the quarter.
FDU-Florham added to the lead early in the second quarter on a 19-yard touchdown run. The Dutchmen blocked the extra point attempt as
Jonathan Hannevig got his arms on the ball and returned it all the way to the other end zone for two points. The big play gave the Dutchmen some momentum as they drove the ball downfield and scored on a four-yard run by
Dion Bryant to cut the lead to 27-9. Wilson had a huge reception on the drive as he caught a pass for 12 yards on third and 12 that extended the drive. The defense came up with a big stop on the next drive to give the offense back the ball with 2:41 on the clock.
Braden Bohannon led a 12-play 76-yard drive that ended with a two-yard touchdown run by the quarterback as time expired in the half.
The Devils scored first in the second half as a 26-yard touchdown run by Thomas gave the home team a 34-16 advantage. LVC drove the ball downfield 44 yards on nine plays but had their drive stopped by the Devils on downs as a fourth down rush by Bohannon came up just short of the first down marker. FDU responded with a touchdown drive that extended the lead with 12:39 left in the game.
Wilson received the ensuing kickoff at the five and returned it all the way back to the endzone for the first special teams touchdown of his career. The Dutchmen got the ball right back as they recovered an onside kick. Bohannon ran the ball 22 yards to put the team in field goal range on the first play of the drive. Three plays later,
Tim Kissinger missed a 44-yard field goal try. The defense came up with a big play as
Trevor Gallagher blocked a punt attempt to give the Dutchmen great field position near midfield with 8:23 on the clock. Wilson was a favorite target of Bohannon on the next drive making a pair of receptions for 10 yards while being targeted seven times. The drive ended with a 51-yard field goal by Kissinger. FDU-Florham responded with a touchdown on the ensuing drive to set the final score.

- Wilson had two kickoff returns for 125 yards and three receptions for 22 yards.
- Bohannon had 260 total yards with 154 passing yards on 18 completions and 106 rushing yards on 18 carries with one touchdown.
- Bryant rushed for 17 yards on six carries with a touchdown.
- Alex Vassallo led the Dutchmen with 48 yards on three receptions.
- Brody Robinson had 10 tackles including 0.5 tackles for a loss to lead the defensive.

LVC heads into the conference-wide bye week in a four-way tie for third place in the conference. They will return to action in two weeks for a big Homecoming matchup against Delaware Valley on October 12. Kickoff at Arnold Field in scheduled for 1 p.m. against the Aggies.
