RADNOR, Pa. — Quarterback
Braden Bohannon delivered three touchdowns and the Lebanon Valley College defense produced four turnovers as the Dutchmen surged to a 40-24 victory over Eastern University on Saturday, Sept. 21, in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) play at RSR Pavilion. LVC improves to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in the MAC, while Eastern falls to 0-3 and 0-2.
With LVC holding a 26-24 lead with six minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Bohannon engineered a seven-play, 75-yard scoring drive to give the Dutchmen some breathing room. He connected with
Alex Vassallo on the right sideline for a 41-yard gain on the opening play to move LVC into Eastern territory. The Dutchmen worked the clock with several rush plays before
Tommy Delgado took a reverse 23 yards to the end zone with 2:39 remaining, padding the lead to 33-24.
The Dutchmen defense came up with its final turnover when
James Jackson's tackle forced a fumble at the Eastern 42-yard-line and
Taijay Brown scooped and scored for his first career touchdown with 1:36 remaining in the game.
LVC used big plays on both sides of the ball throughout the day to pick up its second conference win. With the Dutchmen ahead 20-17, running back
Avrey Grimm provided a spark with a 57-yard run to set up the team's first touchdown of the fourth quarter.
Earlier in the half,
Evan Kutzler intercepted Eastern quarterback Brett Nabb at the LVC 20 to halt that scoring threat. It was Kutzler's second interception of the day after picking off Nabb on Eastern's first drive of the day.
Nick Morder added an interception, and the Dutchmen now have eight picks through three games.
