ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Field Hockey team held visiting Immaculata University to just one shot in a dominant 3-0 win on Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field in Annville.
The Dutchmen improved to 7-0 with the second consecutive shutout and fourth of the season.
Gracie Johnson and
Claire Weidenhammer had shots on goal in the first couple minutes of the game that were kept out of the back of the cage.
Jenna Angstadt scored on LVC's first penalty corner of the game in the 10th minute following a pass from Johnson. A couple minutes later the Dutchmen scored on another penalty corner attempt.
Sorrell Long had her shot blocked.
Lexi Ward gathered the ball and sent it to
Abby Rodenberger who scored the second goal of the game and her third of the season. Long made it 3-0 with her team-leading sixth goal in the 13th minute.
LVC had three shots in a defensive second quarter as
Lauren Foster, Ward, and Long all had attempts saved. The LVC defense continued their lockdown of the Immaculata offense as the game headed into halftime with the Dutchmen holding an 11-0 shot advantage. The Mighty Macs were able to get a shot off in the 42nd minute but it went wide. The Dutchmen responded with shots by Angstadt and Weidenhammer that were saved. Long had a shot saved in the final minutes of the quarter. Ward started the fourth quarter with a pair of shots that were saved before Foster's attempt in the 53rd minute was kicked away by the keeper. The defense held the Mighty Macs in check the rest of the way as the Dutchmen closed out the game not allowing a shot on goal.
Inside the Box
- LVC had a 20-1 shot advantage putting 14 of their shots on goal. The Dutchmen also had a significant 7-1 advantage in penalty corners.
- Angstadt continued her scoring streak with her fifth goal of the season. The senior has now scored in each of the last four games including three game-winners.
- Rodenberger scored her third goal of the year on her only shot of the game.
- Long took four shots and scored her sixth goal. She has scored or assisted in five of the seven games this season.
- Johnson had an assist for the fourth consecutive game.
- Ward took a team-high five shots and had an assist.

The Dutchmen will be off during the week and return to action next Saturday with a big test against Bryn Mawr College. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Arnold Field against the Owls who are ranked 16th in this week's NFHCA National Poll.
