ANNVILLE, Pa. – Libby Lindau had a career-high 11 kills for the second consecutive match to lead the Lebanon Valley volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Penn State Harrisburg on Wednesday evening inside Sorrentino Gymnasium in Annville.
The Dutchmen (6-3) made quick work of the Lions (7-3) winning by set scores of 25-17, 25-17, and 25-15.
Abigail Souder had three service aces as the Dutchmen jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening set. The Lions scored the next two points before LVC responded with an 8-1 run to build a 13-3 advantage. Lindau had a pair of kills during the run and Harrisburg had four consecutive errors to push the lead to 10 points. The advantage grew to 19-8 following a kill by
Margaret Cole and a service ace from
Mattea Penner. Penn State Harrisburg used an 8-1 run to cut the lead to 20-16 but LVC finished the set strong with five of the final five points to take a 1-0 lead.
Robyn Stepler began the second set with a kill to begin another 5-0 start for the Dutchmen. The teams traded points before back-to-back kills by Penner and Cole and then an ace from Lindau gave the Dutchmen a 13-6 lead. LVC doubled up the Lions at 20-10 after four consecutive points. As they did in the first set, Harrisburg used a rally to cut the lead to 20-15 but the Dutchmen once again finished strong winning five of the next seven points to go up 2-0.
Taylor McInerney had three kills to begin the third set as the Dutchmen jumped out to a 6-0 advantage. The Lions were able to cut it down to 8-6 before LVC used a 6-0 run with
Teaguen Reynolds serving to put some distance between the teams. The Dutchmen still lead by eight points after a service error by Harrisburg made it 20-12. Lindau had a pair of kills, Penner had a pair of kills, and Cole had a kill to end the match and give LVC a home sweep.
Inside the Box
- Lindau hit a season-high .429 recording 11 kills and just two errors on 21 attacks. The sophomore also had a service ace, two digs and a block assist.
- Penner had six kills and three aces with a solo block and five digs.
- McInerney had two solo blocks and seven kills at the net.
- Souder led the team in service aces with four. She also had 16 digs, which was one shy of her season-high.
- The Dutchmen recorded 12 aces in the match marking the fourth time this year they have recorded at least 10 aces in a match.
- Stepler had 30 assists, a kill, an ace, and six digs. This is the sixth time she has recorded at least 30 assists in a match this year.
- Reynolds had three aces while Cole added five kills.
- The Dutchmen are now 8-0 all-time against Penn State Harrisburg with five of the wins being sweeps.

The Dutchmen will be back inside Sorrentino Gymnasium on Saturday for a tri-match with University of Rochester and Catholic University. LVC will take on Rochester at 11 a.m. and then Catholic at 3 p.m. with the two opponents facing each other at 1 p.m.
