ANNVILLE, Pa. – Senior
Jake Bollinger netted three goals for the Lebanon Valley College men's lacrosse team, helping lead the program to a dominant 22-7 Senior Night victory over Fairleigh Dickinson University-Florham Campus on Wednesday, April 24 at Arnold Field.
The Dutchmen honored their six seniors before the game, recognizing Bollinger,
William Ward,
Harry Pecunes,
Jacob Schleicher,
Paul Keesler, and
Logan Satti.
FDU-Florham (1-14, 0-6 MAC Freedom) created a scoring opportunity with a shot on goal 1:32 into the game, but this attempt was saved by Lebanon Valley (7-9, 3-3 MAC Freedom) goalkeeper
Kellen Markley to keep the contest scoreless. The Dutchmen got on the board 1:56 into the contest, taking a 1-0 lead on an unassisted goal by
Hayden Carling.
Colin Hughes netted the next two goals for Lebanon Valley, scoring with 11:39 remaining in the first quarter and with 10:09 left to put the program ahead 3-0. The first goal by Hughes was assisted by
Trey Ralston and Ethan Kennan dished out an assist on the second. LVC then claimed a 5-0 advantage, as
Alex Kiviniemi scored an unassisted goal with 8:49 to go and
Rowan Myers made an unassisted shot with 6:53 to play in the opening frame.
The Dutchmen continued to produce offensively as the first quarter progressed, going up 6-0 with 5:59 remaining. Carling sent a shot past the goalkeeper for his second goal, courtesy of an assist by Kiviniemi. LVC took a 7-0 lead just 46 seconds later, as Bollinger found the net for an unassisted goal.
John Lux kept the offense rolling by netting a shot with 4:37 left in the first, making it an 8-0 game. The Flying Dutchmen scored again with 1:31 to go in the frame, advancing the score to 9-0 on a goal by Ralston after an assist by Hughes. Hughes then capped off the opening quarter by scoring a goal with 23 seconds left, putting LVC ahead 10-0 after an assist by Myers.
The programs went back and forth defensively early in the second quarter, maintaining the score for over five minutes at the start. The Dutchmen resumed the scoring with 9:46 remaining, as Bollinger netted an unassisted goal. The Devils got on the board with 5:53 to play in the frame, narrowing the score to 11-1. Lebanon Valley added another point with 1:10 to go in the first half, as Bollinger scored a goal following an assist by Ralston.
Zach Wanous capped off the stanza for LVC by netting an unassisted goal with just one second left on the clock, providing the squad with a 13-1 advantage entering halftime.
The Dutchmen picked up where they left off when the third quarter began, taking a 14-1 lead with 12:06 remaining in the frame. Ralston got the second half started by sending a shot by the goalkeeper, courtesy of an assist by Carling. FDU-Florham countered with a goal when there was 9:56 to play, advancing the score to 14-2. The Devils kept sending shots toward the net as the third went on, registering two attempts within 22 seconds during the seventh minute of the third. Ward entered the game as the goalkeeper for LVC at the start of the second half and made saves on both shots during this stretch.
Lebanon Valley responded with 7:14 to go, claiming a 15-2 advantage on a goal by Lux after an assist by Hughes. FDU-Florham found the net again with 4:09 left, making it a 15-3 contest. LVC added another tally before the end of the quarter, going ahead 16-3 on an unassisted goal by Hughes.
The Flying Dutchmen also struck first in the fourth quarter, taking a 17-3 lead just 57 seconds into the frame.
Sean Poole extended the team's advantage by sending a shot into the net, following an assist by Lux.
Nick West then scored an unassisted goal for LVC with 10:22 remaining, making it an 18-3 game. The Devils responded with a goal when there was 8:59 to go, advancing the score to 18-4. Lebanon Valley got this point back 44 seconds later, going ahead 19-4 with a goal by
Trevor Moore after West dished out the assist.
FDU-Florham then netted two consecutive goals, narrowing the score to 19-6 with 5:52 left in the fourth quarter. The Dutchmen countered with three consecutive goals, taking a 22-6 lead with just 1:24 left in the contest. The first goal during this stretch was scored by Poole, following an assist by
Nick Huff.
Jacob Snarsky was the next Lebanon Valley player to find the net before Schleicher scored a goal with an assist by
Ryan Hendrixson. The Devils put another point on the board with seven seconds left on the clock, prompting 22-7 to be the final score.

- Valanzola had a team-high and season-high two caused turnovers while tying a season-most and team-most three ground balls. The first-year also led the Dutchmen with seven faceoff victories, marking his season-high.
- Markley made six saves and Ward posted five saves.
- Lebanon Valley outshot FDU-Florham 52-38.
- The Dutchmen went 22-for-24 on clears.
- LVC picked up 35 ground balls while FDU-Florham had 33.
