ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's tennis team clinched a spot in the MAC Freedom Championships with a 7-2 victory over King's on Sunday afternoon at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
The Dutchmen (9-7, 3-1 MAC Freedom) won all three doubles matches and then took four of the six singles matches over the Monarchs (6-9, 2-3 MAC Freedom). The victory ensured LVC of a top-four finish in their first year as members of the MAC Freedom and a spot in the conference tournament with two matches left to play this week.
Inside the Box
- Jake Erb and Brian Ward were the first doubles court to finish with an 8-1 victory at number three.
- Michael Schuetz and Ethan Luu improved to 6-1 when playing together with an 8-3 win at number two.
- Jesse Beck and Adam Warren earned an 8-6 victory at number one to give LVC a 3-0 lead. The duo have won five straight matches.
- Erb won his number three singles match 6-3, 6-2 to put the Dutchmen on the brink of clinching the match.
- Schuetz won at number four singles by a score of 6-1, 6-2 for the match-clinching fifth point. He is now 12-3 on the season including 8-1 at number four.
- Warren won a thriller 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 to improve to 6-0 in three-set matches this year.
- Colin Brusse picked up the final point for the Dutchmen with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at number five.
- The Dutchmen won their 22nd consecutive match at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
