GLENSIDE, Pa. – Jake Bollinger and
Trey Ralston scored three goals each for the Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse team in a 17-11 defeat at Arcadia University on Wednesday evening at Jean Lenox West Field in Glenside.
The Knights (7-5, 2-0 MAC Freedom) used a strong first quarter scoring spree and then held off a rally by the Dutchmen (5-7, 1-1 MAC Freedom) with six of the final seven goals of the game to earn the win. Arcadia won the opening faceoff and scored on the first shot of the game to take the early lead. LVC struck back with back-to-back goals by Bollinger in a span of 37 seconds. The senior tied the game up with an unassisted goal with 13:06 on the clock and then gave LVC the lead off a nice assist from
Rowan Myers. The score remained the same until just under eight minutes to go in the quarter when Arcadia scored the first of six consecutive goals to tie it up at two. The Knights retook the lead with a goal 30 seconds later and then added another goal with 6:21 remaining on the clock. The scoring continued for the Knights with three more goals at 4:15, 3:46, and 2:58 to up the advantage to 7-2 and force the Dutchmen to take a timeout. LVC came out of the timeout rejuvenated scoring twice in the final two minutes of the quarter to cut the lead to 7-4. Ralston scored the first goal off an assist by
Hayden Carling and then added his second goal of the game in the final minute off a pass from
Ethan Keenan. The Dutchmen had a chance to cut even further into the lead at the buzzer but a shot from
Alex Kiviniemi was saved by the Knight goalie.
Arcadia started the second quarter strong with two goals in the first three minutes to push the advantage back up to five goals. Bollinger completed his hat trick with a man-up goal to cut the lead down to four.
Kellen Markley made a trio of saves and Keenan cut the lead to 9-6 with a goal out of a timeout off an assist by Bollinger with 7:44 on the clock. The Knights were able to keep the Dutchmen off the scoreboard the rest of the half and added two goals to take an 11-6 lead into the break.
LVC came out strong in the third quarter and cut the lead down to just one at 11-10 on the first four goals of the half. Kiviniemi began the run with an unassisted goal in the third minute of play. Two minutes later
Dylan Rinyak found the back of the net off an assist from
Colin Hughes. The team battled up and down the field over the next five minutes until Kiviniemi struck again to make it a two-goal game with 6:41 remaining in the quarter.
Liam Hogan forced the Knights to call a timeout as he picked up a ground ball in front of the net and scored his first goal of the year to bring the Dutchmen within one. Arcadia came out of the timeout and scored twice over the final four minutes of the quarter to take a 13-10 lead.
The Knights increased the lead to 14-10 to begin the fourth with a man-up goal 3:18 into the final quarter. LVC battled back valiantly and were able to cut the lead back down to three as Ralston completed his hat trick off an assist by Hughes with 6:48 on the clock. The Knights got a big save off a shot from Kiviniemi with a little over five minutes to play and then scored three times in a 90-second span to wrap up the scoring.

- Bollinger recorded his seventh hat trick of the year with three goals and one assist. The senior now has 133 goals and 185 points in his career.
- Ralston recorded his fourth hat trick of the season on three shots.
- Kiviniemi scored twice on a team-high 10 shots and picked up six ground balls.
- Hughes dished out two assists for the third time this year.
- Keenan recorded his first career multi-point game with a goal and an assist.
- Sheadan Makosy led the defense with three caused turnovers and two ground balls.
- Zach Wanous had a caused turnover and five ground balls.
- Kellen Markley made 22 saves in goal and picked up three ground balls.

LVC will return to Arnold Field where they will host Delaware Valley University on Sunday in the annual Crosse Out Cancer Game. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. against the Aggies.
