Bollinger Tallies Five Goals in Win Over Neumann

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley men's lacrosse captain Jake Bollinger had five goals to power the Dutchmen to a big 15-6 victory over Neumann University on Saturday afternoon at Arnold Field.

The Dutchmen (4-4) used a big first half to build a 9-2 lead. Trey Ralston scored the first goal of the game 1:25 in as John Lux found him open over the middle. Bollinger scored the next two goals giving LVC a 3-0 lead with five minutes to go in the opening quarter. Dylan Rinyak assisted on the first goal while Bollinger beat a defender to score his second. The Dutchmen defense limited Neumann (4-3) to just two total shots over the first 10 minutes and only one was on goal. The Knights were able to get on the scoreboard with just over two minutes to go. LVC struck right back as Alex Kiviniemi sent a cross-field pass to Hayden Carling for a goal.

Neumann began the second quarter with a goal to cut the lead to 4-2. Ralston gave the Dutchmen some breathing room as he tallied his second goal of the game off a feed from Kiviniemi to make it 5-2 and force the Knights to call a timeout. Kiviniemi completed his assist hat trick with 6:33 to go in the half as Lux found the back of the net. Kiviniemi picked up a ground ball off a Bollinger shot that was saved, passed it to Lux, and Lux was able to put the ball away to give the Dutchmen a 6-2 advantage. LVC poured it on with three goals in the final 3:08 of the half. Kiviniemi began the string with an unassisted goal. Bollinger then scored his third of the game before Colin Hughes finished off the run with nine second to go off a pass by Zach Wanous.

The Knights came out of the break and once again scored first to begin the third quarter. Carling found the back of the net for his second goal of the game with a little under 10 minutes to play to give LVC a 10-3 advantage. Neumann responded under a minute later with a goal off a failed clear attempt by the Dutchmen. Neither team was able to score again until Bollinger scored his fourth goal with 3:18 left off an assist by Hughes to put the Dutchmen up 11-4.

The first goal of the fourth quarter was scored by the Knights a little over three minutes in. Carling completed his hat trick with 9:39 on the clock off another feed from Kiviniemi. Bollinger scored 26 seconds into a man-up opportunity to extend the lead to 13-5 off another assist by Hughes before Kiviniemi scored his second unassisted goal of the game on a long range shot.
