YORK, Pa. – Riley Hevelow scored a career-high 31 points for the Lebanon Valley Women's Basketball team on Wednesday evening as the host York College of Pennsylvania Spartans used a fourth quarter rally to defeat the Dutchmen 76-74 at Charles Wolf Gymnasium in York.
Cristina Fernandez gave LVC the early lead with a jumper from the corner following an
Elise Balmer offensive rebound. Hevelow scored her first points of the night on a pullup jumper along the baseline to give the Dutchmen a 4-0 lead. York outscored LVC 6-2 over the next couple of minutes to tie the game up.
Jordan Zimmerman knocked down a three at the top of the key and then
Brielle Reidinger hit the front end of two free throws to put the Dutchmen back up by four midways through the first 10 minutes of play. The Dutchmen still led by four heading into the final two minutes of the quarter when Reidinger scored on a layup. York knocked down a three at the other end of the court and Balmer hit a jumper with just over a minute to go. The Spartans scored down low to cut the lead to 16-13 after one quarter of play.
The Spartans came out of the break and recorded two steals on LVC's first two offensive possessions. York tied the game up with an old fashioned three-point play and then took their first lead of the game with another bucket underneath the rim. Layups by Hevelow and Balmer put LVC back up 21-18 and then Reidinger knocked down a jumper to extend the lead to five. York hit a three and then the teams traded buckets. Hevelow put LVC back up by five at 32-27 with a big three with 2:10 on the clock. Reidinger grabbed a defensive rebound and then was fouled to go to the line with 1:30 left. She hit both free throws and then Hevelow used a steal, a bucket while being fouled, and the free throw to increase the advantage to 10 points. York was able to score a basket to make it 37-29 in favor of the Dutchmen at halftime.
York hit a pair of free throws to begin the scoring in the third. Hevelow knocked down a pair of jumpers to get the lead back to 10. After a bucket by the Spartans, Fernandez had a steal and bucket, Hevelow hit another jumper, and then Zimmerman scored another basket to push the lead to 47-33 and force York to call a timeout. The lead was at 12 when Fernandez knocked down a three and then Reidinger scored on a nice give and go with Fernandez. Zimmerman gave LVC the largest lead of the game at 18 points with her second three of the game with 2:33 left in the quarter. York scored the final seven points of the quarter to cut the lead to 57-46 heading into the fourth.
Hevelow hit the first field goal of the final quarter with a three-pointer to give the Dutchmen a 60-47 advantage. The Spartans scored six of the next eight points to get within nine points at 62-53. After a layup by YCP with around seven minutes to play,
Hailie Edwards hit a pair of free throws and then Reidinger scored off a pass from Fernandez to keep the advantage at nine. The Spartans knocked down a three, got a steal and layup, and after another turnover, scored on an offensive putback to make it a two-point game with four minutes remaining. The lead was still at two when York tied the game up with a bucket underneath with three minutes to go. Reidinger found Hevelow for a layup while being fouled. The junior knocked down her free throw to give the Dutchmen a three-point lead. York made it a one-point game with 1:38 remaining on a layup. The teams traded stops before York took the lead on a driving layup with 37 seconds left. LVC called a timeout, and Fernandez had a great look on the right side but her three-pointer bounced off the rim and the rebound was grabbed by the Spartans. York was able to hit three of four free throws to increase the lead to four with nine seconds left. Hevelow knocked down a three to cut it to one with three seconds remaining, but York made one of two free throws at the other end to finish the game.

- Hevelow was 13-19 and hit a trio of three-pointers for 29 of her career-high 31 points. She was 2-2 at the line. The junior also grabbed six rebounds.
- Reidinger finished with 13 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
- Zimmerman scored in double digits for the second time this season with 10 points.
- Balmer added nine points and five rebounds.
- Fernandez had seven points, six rebounds, and six assists.
- The Dutchmen had a 36-28 rebounding advantage over the Spartans and had a season-high 14 offensive rebounds.
- LVC shot 49.2percent from the floor and was 10-14 at the line.
