ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Women's Basketball team outscored visiting Moravian University 17-1 in the second quarter to pull away for a big 61-34 victory over the Greyhounds on Saturday afternoon at Sorrentino Gymnasium.

Moravian kept things close in the first quarter starting with scoring on the first possession of the game. The Dutchmen (5-3) responded right back at the other end as Jordan Zimmerman found Brielle Reidinger open underneath for a layup. After a pair of turnovers, the Greyhounds knocked down a jumper to retake the lead. Riley Hevelow gave LVC its first lead of the game with a pair of buckets. The Greyhounds responded with a 6-2 run to retake the lead at 10-8 with four minutes to go in the quarter. Kailey Eckhart tied the game up with a layup before Moravian scored at the other end. Neither team was able to score over the next few possessions until Cristina Fernandez put back her own miss to even the score at 12. LVC had a chance to take the lead on the final play of the quarter but a driving layup from Fernandez rolled off the rim.

The second quarter began with Fernandez finding Hevelow open for jumper. The Greyhounds went to the line and made one of two shots at the other end of the floor. Reidinger scored the next three points of the game on a layup and one of two free throw attempts to put the Dutchmen up 17-13 a couple minutes into the quarter. The lead was still four when LVC scored on three consecutive possessions to increase the lead to 10. Fernandez started the run with a mid-range bucket. Reidinger blocked a shot at the other end and grabbed the rebound before Fernandez found Elise Balmer cutting to the rim for a fastbreak layup. Reidinger then hit a turnaround jumper in the paint. Fernandez and Abbie Reed kept the scoring going with a pair of layups as the Dutchmen held Moravian off the scoreboard the rest of the quarter. Reed ended the half with a pair of free throws to give the Dutchmen a 29-13 halftime advantage.

LVC continued the strong defense into the third quarter holding the Greyhounds without a made field goal for the first two minutes. Moravian knocked down a jumper with 7:39 on the clock to cut the lead to 30-15 with its first made field goal since there was 3:12 left in the first quarter. LVC sandwiched a Moravian three-pointer with a pair of Reidinger layups off assists from Reed. Reidinger continued her scoring run with another layup off a pass from Fernandez to make it 36-20 midway through the quarter. A pair of free throws by Fernandez and a nice pass from the top of the key to Jordan for an easy layup gave LVC a 20-point advantage. The teams traded scores over the final three minutes of the quarter and Moravian ended the period with a jumper to make it 47-28 heading into the fourth.

Hevelow found Zimmerman open on the first play of the fourth for the first two points of the quarter.
