READING, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley Football team earned a big victory in the final road game of the year with a 23-10 win at Alvernia University on Saturday in Reading.
The first quarter was a defensive battle as the teams traded punts on the first three possessions. The Dutchmen gained momentum on Alvernia's second offensive possession as
Jacob Karkoska knocked the ball out on a run up the middle and
Noah Caldani jumped on top of it at the 23-yard line to give the Dutchmen the ball. Unfortunately, a couple play later, the Golden Wolves got the back right back with an interception at the 13. Alvernia drove the ball down to the 42 before
Luke Ordway stepped in front of a pass and returned it 12 yards.
LVC got inside the red zone before having the drive stall out.
Tim Kissinger kicked a 39-yard field goal to put the first points of the game on the board. The defense had another great drive going three-and-out and the offense responded with a long drive that ended with another Kissinger field goal, this time from 30 yards out. The Dutchmen went 67 yards on 11 plays and used over five minutes of clock time. After the defense forced another punt, the offense drover the ball inside the red zone once again. A 33-yard field goal in the final minute of the half was off the mark and the Dutchmen took a 6-0 lead into the locker rooms.
The Golden Wolves got on the board with a field goal on the first drive of the second half after
Jake Marcus forced an intentional grounding penalty on third down inside the five. The Dutchmen scored the first touchdown of the game late in the third quarter as they took advantage of a running into the kicker penalty and
Dion Bryant found
Tommy Delgado down the right side for a 22-yard touchdown strike.
The Dutchmen extended the lead to 20-3 early in the fourth quarter as
Braden Bohannon ran the ball up the middle for a four-yard touchdown. Alvernia cut the lead to 20-10 with five minutes left on a nine-yard touchdown pass. The Dutchmen recovered the onside kick and five plays later, Kissinger made his third field goal of the game with a 38-yard strike to set the final score.
