Widener Edges LVC Football in MAC Matchup

ANNVILLE, Pa.– The Lebanon Valley College Football team lost to Widener University, 24-21, in a Middle Atlantic Conference match-up on Saturday, Nov. 2, at Arnold Field.

Trailing 24-14 with six minutes to play in the fourth quarter, LVC marched down the field on a 10-play, 83-yard touchdown drive. Logan Klitsch completed three passes on the drive, highlighted by a 38-yard catch by DeShawn Wilson on a tipped ball. Tanner Lewis capped the drive with a two-yard touchdown run after a pass interference call in the end zone on a Widener defender. LVC pulled to within 24-21 on Tim Kissinger's extra point, but Widener (4-4, 3-4 MAC) recovered the onside kick attempt to preserve the victory.

Earlier in the game, LVC (3-5, 3-4 MAC) put the first points on the scoreboard when Braden Bohannon found Wilson for a 38-yard scoring strike. After Widener tied the score at 7-7, the Dutchmen responded by driving 96 yards in eight plays to pull back in front 14-7. That drive featured a mix of nice runs by Dion Bryant along with a long completion to Ethan Heisey and another catch by Malaki Blair. Malachi Williams scored on a three-yard touchdown run.

Widener pulled even early in the third quarter, taking an LVC fumble 20 yards for a defensive touchdown. With just two minutes left in the stanza, the Pride capitalized on a short field, going 25 yards in two plays for the go-ahead touchdown.

LVC battled back and drove down inside the Widener five yard line before throwing an interception in the end zone on a third-down play at the end of the third quarter. Widener chewed up nearly nine minutes of the fourth quarter on a field goal drive to build the 24-14 lead.
