Dutchmen Women’s Soccer Competes at Hood in Hard-Fought Game

FREDERICK, Md. ­­The Lebanon Valley College Women's Soccer team delivered a valiant effort against Hood College, but ultimately dropped a 2-0 match on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Thomas Athletic Field.

The Dutchmen created some scoring chances early in the first half, taking four total shots within the first 12 minutes. Jordan Lasky tallied a shot that went over the upper-left corner of the net 2:37 into the stanza, before Emilee Walborn recorded an attempt that went over the top-right of the net at the 4:28 mark. Sophia Floyd then sent a shot toward the net that was saved at the 9:05 mark, marking the first shot on goal of the night. Lebanon Valley was also dominant defensively during this stretch, preventing the opposition from taking a shot for over 14 minutes at the start of the game.

The Flying Dutchmen continued to send the ball toward the net as the opening half progressed, as Darrian Berkheimer took a shot that was saved at the 19:21 mark before Alison Sepkovic had an attempt that was saved 25:28 into the match. LVC generated more offensive opportunities as the end of the first approached, as Berkheimer logged a shot that went above the net at the 41:32 mark. Abrielle Miller then took a shot that went over the upper-right corner of the net with 1:31 left in the half. Hood also worked to get its offense going, recording a shot that went above the net with 29 seconds to go. The programs entered halftime in a 0-0 tie.

Lebanon Valley remained aggressive offensively when the second half began, as Berkheimer took another shot on goal that was saved just 48 seconds into the frame. Meredith Mantione also contributed to the team's offensive efforts, registering an attempt that was saved at the 46:19 mark. The Blazers countered by sending the ball toward the net 52:38 into the contest, but this shot was saved by LVC goalkeeper Camryn Porter. The Flying Dutchmen followed this with a shot on goal by Lasky, which was saved 56:26 into the game.

Hood then got on the scoreboard at the 59:13 mark, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal by Kiley O'Grady. Lebanon Valley proceeded to continue battling as the half went on, as Miller recorded a shot on goal that was saved 74:36 into the contest. Walborn also took a shot that went to the right of the net 77:13 into the match before Lasky did the same at the 82:34 mark. The Blazers then put another point on the board with 3:34 remaining, going ahead 2-0 on a goal by Sara Yeich. This would stand as the final score.
