Berkheimer Scores Goal for Women’s Soccer in Homecoming Contest Against Arcadia

ANNVILLE, Pa. ­­– Darrian Berkheimer netted a goal for the Lebanon Valley College Women's Soccer team on Homecoming Saturday, as the program dropped a 2-1 game to Arcadia University on Oct. 12 at Herbert Field. 

The Dutchmen and Knights went back and forth defensively early in the matchup, as neither team recorded a shot for nearly five minutes at the start. The first scoring chance of the afternoon was a shot on goal by Arcadia, which was saved by goalkeeper Camryn Porter 4:48 into the game. Lebanon Valley countered with a shot on goal by Megan Ressler, which was saved at the 6:31 mark. Sophia Floyd also contributed to the team's offensive efforts, sending a shot above the net 8:38 into the first half.

Porter continued to produce defensively for LVC as the opening stanza progressed, making another important save at the 14:17 mark. The Flying Dutchmen also kept sending shots toward the net, as Jordan Lasky tallied an attempt that was saved 18:33 into the half. Arcadia responded with a shot on goal at the 22:14 mark, which resulted in Porter's third stop of the day. The Knights then opened the scoring 33:54 into the match on a goal by Caroline Weirich, prompting the team to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. 

The Dutchmen kept working to generate offensive opportunities in the second half, as Abrielle Miller took a shot that went to the right of the net at the 49:35 mark before another attempt that went over the top-left of the net 53:41 into the contest. Arcadia later logged a shot of their own at the 55:22 mark, and Porter made yet another save for LVC. The Dutchmen then got on the scoreboard 58:01 into the match, tying things up at 1-1. The squad evened the score on a goal by Berkheimer that ended up in the left side of the net, following an assist by Miller. 

The programs then proceeded to compete defensively for nearly 12 minutes, maintaining the 1-1 tie over this stretch. The Knights resumed the scoring at the 70:11 mark, taking a 2-1 advantage on a goal by Rachael Mahlau-Heinert. The Dutchmen kept battling during the remainder of the contest, taking seven more shots in the final 19:49. Kalei Noonan contributed to these efforts, taking a shot that was saved 71:49 into the match. Berkheimer also tallied a pair of shots on goal within a period of 27 seconds during the 81st minute. Lasky then registered a shot that went to the left of the net with 11 seconds to go. Arcadia ultimately preserved its lead through the end of the game.

  • Berkheimer scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season for the Dutchmen. The senior also registered a game-high three shots on goal. 
  • Miller dished out the assist on Berkheimer's goal. The sophomore recorded a game-high four total shots as well. 
  • Lebanon Valley outshot Arcadia 15-11 and had a 7-6 advantage in shots on goal. 
  • Lasky took three shots, putting an attempt on goal. 
  • Porter made four saves for the Flying Dutchmen. 
  • LVC tallied a corner kick during the contest.
