WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Charlie McCormick scored a penalty kick goal for the Lebanon Valley College Men's Soccer team in the second half, leading the program to a 1-0 victory over King's College on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at McCarthy Stadium. Goalkeeper
Dalton Fitterling was also stellar defensively, making nine saves in his third consecutive shutout.
The Dutchmen (9-4-2, 3-0-1 MAC Freedom) and the Monarchs (6-5-3, 1-2-1 MAC Freedom) went back and forth defensively early in the contest, keeping each other from taking a shot for over eight minutes at the start. Lebanon Valley took the first shot of the night, as
Nathan Prex registered an attempt that went to the right of the net at the 8:31 mark. King's later countered with the first shot on goal, and this attempt was saved by Fitterling 12:53 into the game.
Fitterling followed this by making two more important saves for LVC at the 18:32 and 20:59 marks, keeping things scoreless. The Flying Dutchmen also worked to generate offensive opportunities as the first half progressed, as
Lucas Strange sent a shot toward the goalie that was saved 25:09 into the match. The Monarchs then took another shot at the 31:34 mark, which resulted in Fitterling's fourth save. LVC later logged the final shot on goal of the opening stanza, as an attempt by
Nathan Kimball was saved 38:16 into the first. The teams entered halftime in a scoreless tie.
Lebanon Valley kept creating scoring chances when the second half began, as Strange tallied a shot on goal that was saved 2:58 into the stanza. Fitterling also remained productive on the defensive end for the Dutchmen, registering two more saves at the 49:26 and 52:24 marks. This was followed by LVC's offense recording five shot attempts over the next 15:18, including shots by
Will Burton and Prex within 12 seconds in the 64
th minute.
The Dutchmen got on the scoreboard at the 67:46 mark, taking a 1-0 lead over the Monarchs. The program went ahead when McCormick fired a penalty kick shot past the diving attempt of the goalkeeper and into the net for a clutch goal. King's responded with shots on goal 73:28 into the contest and at the 77:57 mark, but Fitterling's dominant performance continued with saves on both tries. The goalkeeper made another big save for LVC with just 2:05 remaining, preserving the one-goal advantage. Lebanon Valley maintained this lead through the end of the game to secure the 1-0 victory.

- The win extends Lebanon Valley's unbeaten streak to seven contests and improves its winning streak to three.
- McCormick found the net for the second time this season. This is also the graduate student's second game-winning goal of the fall.
