WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Olivia Baldwin scored her first career goal for the Lebanon Valley College Women's Soccer team, as the program posted a valiant effort in a 2-2 tie with King's College on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at McCarthy Stadium.
Jordan Lasky also contributed to LVC's offensive efforts, scoring a goal in the second half.
The Dutchmen and the Monarchs competed defensively early in the first stanza, keeping the game scoreless for over 13 minutes at the start. Lebanon Valley took the first shot of the night, as
Sophia Floyd tallied an attempt that was blocked 3:04 into the half. King's then recorded the first shot on goal at the 4:55 mark, and goalkeeper
Camryn Porter was there to make the save for LVC. The programs proceeded to go back and forth over the next 8:44, as neither side took a shot over this stretch.
The Flying Dutchmen opened the scoring 13:39 into the contest, taking an early 1-0 lead over the Monarchs. The squad got on the board when a corner kick from the right side went to
Alison Sepkovic in the left side of the box, who passed it to Baldwin for a shot into the right corner of the net. Lebanon Valley then continued to send the ball toward the net as the opening half progressed, as
Abrielle Miller took a shot that went to the right of the net at the 18:24 mark before
Darrian Berkheimer logged an attempt that was saved 24:18 into the contest.
The defenses of both teams followed this by preventing each other from taking a shot over the next 13:44. King's got on the scoreboard at the 38:02 mark, tying the match at 1-1 on a goal by Maya Parker. The Dutchmen countered with a shot by Miller 50 seconds later, which went to the right of the net. Ultimately, the programs went into halftime with the score even at 1-1.
The Monarchs generated an offensive opportunity 3:51 into the second half, but this attempt resulted in a save by Porter. The first-year goalie later made another important stop for LVC at the 58:38 mark, maintaining the 1-1 score. Lebanon Valley also worked to create scoring chances during the stanza, as
Megan Ressler logged a shot on goal that was saved 60:11 into the game before Miller had an attempt that went above the net at the 61:25 mark.
The Dutchmen found the net again 72:42 into the match, taking a 2-1 advantage. The scoring play began when a corner kick from the left side was deflected toward the right side of the field. This led to
Chloe Moser delivering a pass to Lasky in the box, who sent a header shot into the right side of the net for a clutch goal. The Monarchs later responded with a goal by Taryn Conover at the 79:49 mark, tying things up at 2-2.
Lebanon Valley remained productive on the defensive end during the final 10 minutes, keeping the opposition from taking a shot on goal during this stretch. LVC blocked a shot by the Monarchs with 1:53 remaining to halt the scoring chance. King's then took the last shot of the contest with 28 seconds left, prompting the match to end in a 2-2 tie.
