ANNVILLE, Pa. – Evin Timonchenko had game-highs of 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the Lebanon Valley men's basketball team to a 76-64 victory over FDU-Florham on Wednesday evening at Sorrentino Gymnasium in Annville.
LVC jumped out to a 7-0 lead behind a pair of buckets in the paint by Timochenko and then a transition three by
Ryan Harder. The Devils got on the board with a layup and then
Evan Smith knocked down a three to put the Dutchmen up by eight. The lead was still at eight when Harder converted a pair of free throws to make it 16-6 with just under 12 minutes to go in the half. FDU-Florham responded with a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to tie the game up.
Harder ended the run with a step back jumper in the paint before the Devils scored the next five points to take their first and only lead of the game at 21-18. Timochenko scored on a layup and the
Evan Smith hit a three on the left wing while being fouled to give LVC back the lead. Smith calmly sank his free throw for a rare four-point play.
Kyle Tang went on a 6-0 run of his own drawing a pair of fouls with LVC in the bonus, knocking down all four free throws, and then scoring on a layup off an offensive rebound by Timochenko. The Dutchmen took their largest lead of the half with just under two minutes to play as Tang found Timochenko underneath for two points. The Devils closed out the scoring of the half with a pair of made free throws to cut the Dutchmen lead to 32-23.
Smith started the scoring in the second half with a three pointer off an assist from Tang. The Devils scored five of the next six points to cut the lead down to eight. They were able to get within six at 38-32 following a pair of free throws before
Braden Bohannon scored on a pullup jumper in the paint. The teams traded scores over the next couple of minutes as LVC's lead stayed between six and nine points. The Devils hit a three with just over 14 minutes remaining to make it a six-point game and LVC came right down the court and Tang found
Jevon Griffin open on the right wing for a big three.
The Dutchmen used a big 7-0 run from the 10-minute mark to 8:40 to increase their lead up to 15 points at 62-47. Timochenko had five of seven points including hitting all three of his free throw attempts. FDU-Florham knocked down a pair of free throws before Timochenko scored down low while being fouled. He made the shot at the line to give LVC a 16-point edge. Griffin gave the Dutchmen their biggest lead of the game as he made the back end of two shots at the line with 6:37 on the clock. The Devils hit a pair of three and knocked down a pair of free throws to bring the deficit back to single digits at 68-59 with 4:36 forcing a timeout. Tang found Harder open for an easy layup off an inbound pass under the basket put the lead back to double digits. Timochenko found Tang on driving layup to give LVC a 72-60 lead with 3:20 left. Timonchenko scored the final four points of the game for the Dutchmen making two shots at the line and then a layup with 32 seconds left.
Inside the Box
- Timochenko led all scorers with 22 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds while dishing out four assists.
- Harder scored in double figures for the 13th consecutive game with 15 points. The junior guard was 6-14 from the floor including making his only three-point attempt.
- Tang finished with 14 points, a season-high seven assists, and five rebounds. He was a very efficient 4-6 from the field and a perfect 6-6 at the line.
- Smith was the fourth Dutchmen in double figures with 10 points with a trio of made three-pointers.
- Griffin made a three-point and was 3-4 at the line for six points.
- LVC was a season-high 84.0 percent at the line making 21 of 25 free throw attempts.
- The Dutchmen turned the ball over 12 times while forcing 21 FDU-Florham turnovers.
- The victory gives LVC their fourth straight win in Sorrentino Gymnasium

LVC will look to keep the home winning streak going on Saturday as they will host defending MAC Freedom champion Arcadia University in the final home game of the first round of conference play. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Annville.
