CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley men's basketball team had 11 scorers in a tough 98-60 defeat at conference-leading DeSales University on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutchmen hung tough with the Bulldogs early on as
Ryan Harder scored the first points of the game after
Kyle Tang stole the ball on DeSales' first possession. The Bulldogs scored the next four points and then
Karson Pavlik hit a three to put LVC up 5-4. DSU responded with a three of their own and Harder scored in the paint to even the game up with 16 minutes to go. DeSales used an 8-0 run over the next four minutes to take a 15-7 lead. Harder stopped the run with a jumper on an assist from
Tyson Hofsass following an offensive rebound. Harder got the Dutchmen within five after a three but the Bulldogs responded with a 6-0 run to make it 23-11 midway through the half.
The Bulldogs were able to increase their lead to 16 before
Evan Smith scored in the paint off a nice pass from
Luis Garcia. DSU increased the lead to 24 at 45-21 but LVC closed the half strong in the final minute as Pavlik knocked down a three and Hofsass scored on a fastbreak layup to cut the lead to 19 at halftime.
Garcia began the scoring in the second half with a bucket. The Bulldogs responded with the next nine points to build the lead up to 54-28.
Wil Laskowski and Hofsass had buckets in the paint during the first five minutes of the half for the Dutchmen but DeSales was able to increase their lead to 27 points. The Bulldogs built the lead up to 33 before
Jack Miller knocked down a three and then Tang scored a bucket. DeSales kept the pressure on and built the lead to as many as 39 points into the final minute of play.
Inside the Box
- Harder scored in double figures with 12 points on 5-10 shooting and 1-2 at the line.
- Pavlik finished with eight points while Hofsass also had eight points.
- Tang scored four points and added four assists.
- The Dutchmen shot 41.9 percent from the field making 26 of 62 field goal attempts.
