Young and Grossman Win Events in Women’s Swimming Return to Pool

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sierra Young and Jordyn Grossman won events for the Lebanon Valley swimming team in the first home meet of the year on Friday afternoon. The Dutchmen swam fast times but were defeated by Elizabethtown College 135-62.
 
Meet Highlights
  • The Dutchmen began the meet by taking second and third in the 200-meter medley relay. The team of Natalie Bourne, Nory Mitchell, Charlotte Richmond, and Cara Snook swam a time of 2:30.33 while the squad of Rachel King, Celia Yost, Maddie Hoerner, and Abby Nagle swam a time of 2:37.42.
  • King was three second off the MAC qualifying time in the 200-meters freestyle with a time of 2:30.85 to finish third.
  • Grossman won the 50-meter freestyle with an incredibly fast time of 28.49 seconds. She won by just under a full second. Young was third with a MAC qualifying time of 29.59 seconds.
  • Young then won the 100-meter freestyle in a MAC qualifying time of 1:05.85 in her first meet of the year.  
  • Grossman finished second in the 100-meter backstroke with a MAC qualifying time of 1:15.57.
  • In the last individual event of the meet, King qualified for the MAC Championships in the 100-meter breaststroke with a time 1:27.25.
  • Hollyn Helsel had a great first leg of the 200-meter freestyle relay just missing a MAC qualifying time to put the Dutchmen ahead on the way to a win with a time of 2:03.08. Karly Kile, Young, and Grossman rounded out the relay.
 
Up Next
The Dutchmen will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they travel down to Maryland for a tri-meet with host Stevenson University and Juniata College. The meet will begin at 2:30 p.m.
