DALLAS, Pa. – Senior goalkeeper Jocelyn Umana made a season-high nine saves on Saturday, as the Lebanon Valley College women's soccer team fell to No. 17 Misericordia University at Mangelsdorf Field in its Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opener.

Lebanon Valley (2-3-2, 0-1-0 MAC Freedom) competed until the final minute against Misericordia (5-3-1, 1-0-0), delivering a strong defensive effort in the second half. The Cougars jumped out to a five-goal lead within the first 21:25 of the game, which proved to be the difference in the contest.

Misericordia's first goal was scored by Maegan Allspach 6:43 into the game, before the squad made it a 2-0 game on Colleen Kinsella's goal 7:45 into the contest. Emma Sweitzer then netted a pair of shots at the 11:58 and 18:40 marks, extending the Cougars advantage to 4-0. The scoring was capped off with a goal Mary Katharine Peters 21:25 into the half, advancing the score to 5-0.

The Flying Dutchmen then kept the Cougars off the scoreboard during the remainder of the first stanza, as Umana saved each of the opposition's four shots on goal during this stretch. LVC attempted to create a scoring opportunity towards the end of the opening half, as senior Lauren Weaver took a shot on goal with 3:46 to go.

Lebanon Valley's defense limited Misericordia's offensive chances in the second half, blanking the squad during the final 45 minutes.
